Roger Moore was actually very good in the more serious scenes in his Bond films..................its just that he played the films in a more light hearted manner to suit his own personality traits.................and hence the scripts for his films were tailoured to this.
As regards DC, i dont think he is the sort of personality who would not accept such slapstick humour in his Bond films..............and therefore we can expect a more down to earth serious Bond from him, but without the intensity of say TD.

For me Roger was probebly the most ruthless Bond, the car kicked of the ledge, the removal of the tie and a way for the henchman to stay on the ledge, karate kick in the face to unprepared oponent. I could go on, why people say he was not tough is beyond me.Arthur Brain wrote:Roger Moore was actually very good in the more serious scenes in his Bond films..................its just that he played the films in a more light hearted manner to suit his own personality traits.................and hence the scripts for his films were tailoured to this.

Moore's Bond smiled a lot vs. Craig's constantly sour facial expressions, so he is considered somewhat less serious I guess. Dalton said on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, in 1987, that he would NEVER do a Bond film where a plane comes out of a horse's rear, ala, Octopussy. Yet, he was seen sliding down a snow slope on a cello! Go figure?

Arthur. I see the MI6 website you frequent has now started their own Bond magazine with Craig on it's cover glorifying his film CR. Do you plan on buying it from them? I always knew they were involved with Eon to some extent. This only proves my assumptions were correct.Arthur Brain wrote:Blimey

it was their own magazine..........mind you with a title of MI6 it should of been obvious.
If there are any articles of particular interest to me........then i would probably buy the relevant issue of the magazine.

I'm afraid he has succumbed to the seduction of the dark side
Maybe he's too busy with his mod job at Alternative007.

BOND sells, NOT CRAIG
The reboot is a risky area, did Eon need to do it? NO. Did this confuse alot of people? YES.
The Bond character will always be anchored in the values of the 60s

What does EON gain by allowing this magazine to exist Arthur, and wouldn't that be a collaborative effort by both parties?Arthur Brain wrote:Yes.........i have seen that magazine on the MI6 website...........didn't knowbjmdds wrote:Arthur. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,305487,00.html It appears Craig's next film is also causing controversy. With $150 million invested to make the film, what kind of return will the studio receive after this negativity, or is that the key to a successful Craig film? Also, will this be the singer of The Bourne Mimicry as is being discussed on the internet? I never heard of her, and I think Amy Winehouse's voice tops her's as well. What do you think? http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=sF84pIhP5UM
I think the controversy (which is hardly news btw) might hurt the film's box office in America, but won't do it much harm in more secular Europe.bjmdds wrote:http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,305487,00.html It appears Craig's next film is also causing controversy. If The Golden Compass grossly underperforms, given it's 'blockbuster' hype now, how might this affect Craig's tenure as Bond? Or, will Bond be the only thing he is ever remembered for? If so, how he would hate that.Kristatos wrote:I think the controversy (which is hardly news btw) might hurt the film's box office in America, but won't do it much harm in more secular Europe.bjmdds wrote:http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,305487,00.html It appears Craig's next film is also causing controversy. It won't. Why should it? Craig was a virtual unknown when he was signed to play Bond, so it's not like they hired him for his star power. I think the only thing that could affect his tenure as Bond is if a Bond film with him grossly underperforms, and even then, I think EON would just change direction rather than sack the actor. They didn't sack Roger after TMWTGG tanked or (contrary to popular belief) Tim after LTK flopped. They just resolved to do better with the next film.bjmdds wrote:If The Golden Compass grossly underperforms, given it's 'blockbuster' hype now, how might this affect Craig's tenure as Bond?

Tend to agree with you Kris. It will be interesting to see how the public responds to the next Bond film. If it is more of the same, and public opinion goes against the 24/Bourne style, the film may well underperform. This like you stated could lead to a change in style or tone. Whether DC would be in favour of this is unknown, but it is clear he enjoys the new style of Bond film. I'm not sure he would want or could perform in the more traditional style of Bond film, so in essence could well leave or wake up one morning and find out he's been ditched on GMTV.Kristatos wrote: I think the only thing that could affect his tenure as Bond is if a Bond film with him grossly underperforms, and even then, I think EON would just change direction rather than sack the actor. “I'd like to thank the Royal Marines for bringing me in like that and scaring the s--- out of me,” Bond Hardman Daniel Craig.
Well, if the stories about him being signed on for 4 more films are true, he may not have much of a choice. My fear is that if Bond 22 underperforms, we could end up with the worst of both worlds - Craig staying in the role, but being forced to perform in a style of Bond film that he was clearly unhappy with for the next 3 films.Skywalker wrote:I'm not sure he would want or could perform in the more traditional style of Bond film, so in essence could well leave or wake up one morning and find out he's been ditched on GMTV.

Welcome back Young Skywalker. I thought Darth Sidious had turned you to the dark side of the Bond force. Glad to see you have returned refreshed. How was the move?Skywalker wrote:Tend to agree with you Kris. It will be interesting to see how the public responds to the next Bond film. So MI6 have a magazine to flog now, full of Eon sanctioned photographs. I'm sure that will be a really opinionated read.
