Hollywood Reporter said this tonight...
No idea if this is true but I hope so because the three alleged candidates are very underwhelming. Who would be 'above the level' of a Callum Turner but in that age bracket? Nicholas Hoult? Aaron Taylor-Johnson? Is Elordi still in the mix? I have no idea. I wonder if they are having trouble reaching a consensus because you have two veteran producers, the Amazon top brass and a famous powerful director who will all have their two pence on the casting. Plus Nina Gold. It was a lot easier with Casino Royale because Barbara wore the trousers and it was her decision.https://view.mail.hollywoodreporter.com ... 4002780830
And as we go into the weekend, there is still no official word on Bond. Two different outlets have reported two different names at this point. And we here at HV have heard that there now two mystery actors that have tested, not one like initially thought. And we were told that these two thespians are notable and established names, above the level of the still-rising likes of Callum Turner and company.

There is a theory that Amazon can't make a decision and are leaking the contenders to test public reaction to them. Sounds a bit unlikely but you never know.Kristatos wrote: Fri Nov 06, 2026 5:57 pm Enquire magazine agrees with me: https://www.esquire.com/uk/culture/film ... ond-actor/

Apparently one of the mystery actors is Robert Pattinson. It makes sense, given he's coming off Dune 3 with Villeneuve and is an established name without being a huge star.

I have to say, I think Pattinson immediately becomes my preferred choice of the known contenders, as I could easily see him in the role.
The fact that he's played a role as high-profile as Batman doesn't seem like it would be a deal-breaker in today's Hollywood, as it feels silly to still be trying to think in terms of what would've made the most sense in a year like 1968 or 1986.
Edit: Ah, and as soon as I post it seems Nicholas Hoult has been revealed as the other mysterious contender:

I could see Hoult in the role as well and this news helps restore my hope of Villeneuve wanting a more traditional Bond that is closer to Brosnan or Dalton than Craig.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I'd love to see Aidan Turner cast and feel like it should've happened in 2016 after his role in And Then There Were None generated some 007 buzz. However, it seems like they're looking for an actor that's at least 6'1" or 6'2" and is similar to the description of the books (blue eyes, comma of hair, etc)

In addition to his work with Villeneuve, I feel like Pattinson probably has an edge in that he knows how to headline a blockbuster and his role in Tenet already drew a lot of Bond comparisons at the time.
Ultimately, if producers were able to sell someone like Craig in the role to moviegoers, I don't think it will be all that difficult with a new actor. I'd just prefer it be someone that fits the kind of tall, dark, and handsome mold most fans still associate with the character.

Of course, Hoult also has some blockbuster experience under his belt and has the advantage of being at the prime age of 36.
Theo James is reportedly still in the mix as well, so it's interesting they're willing to test actors who are already in their early 40s. Perhaps they finally realized that most actors today in their late 20s or early 30s look FAR younger than Connery did back when he was cast?

I agree with Jake. Pattinson and Hoult would both be fine and, IMO, much better choices than the other three. Both are excellent actors and look the part with some suave and style. At this point, Amazon would be insane not to go for Pattinson if he wants it. He's 40 but could pass for ten years younger. Denis Villeneuve knows him well.
Aidan Turner would have been my choice too if Craig left after Spectre but that was ten years ago. Turner will be 44 soon. The timing was all wrong for Aidan and Cavill and they aged out. Despite the early speculation about a younger Bond, it appears Amazon are after an oven ready established actor.

And here's Mr Dua Lipa for comparison

Putting all your eggs in one basket like that seems like a recipe for unhappiness. I've never been that excited about either Pattinson or Hoult as potential Bonds, but I'm sure either of them would be fine. Certainly an improvement on Craig, anyway.bjmdds wrote: Sat Nov 07, 2026 4:58 am Nothing compares to him! The 5 punks discussed are kiddies compared to Aidan Turner, who is 7 years older but looks better than Connery did in DAF.
