Image BIG EARS the new Bond? IF so, retire the franchise to bedlam and move on for I would not waste my time with this ingot of blandness being in the role! An "ingot of blandness" is a vivid, poetic metaphor used to describe something that is supremely boring, dense with unoriginality, and entirely devoid of flavor, excitement, or character!

Until the announcement, I'm going to hold out a sliver of hope that it's not him. But it's not looking good. Quitting his own film company is a pretty big sign.

On Reddit they are saying Callum Turner actually quit this company a year ago. This story is Bond silly season mischief by the tabloids.

I hope you're right. The other candidates range from "acceptable" to "no real opinion one way or the other", but Banjo Boy is the one contender who I definitely don't want.

Just seen that even the Daily Mail story which broke the news says that Turner resigned in August 2025. Move along, nothing to see here.

Bond-related, sort of: 30 years ago today, the Simpsons episode You Only Move Twice first aired, introducing the world to the supervillain Hank Scorpio.

It does feel like we're being softened up for the announcement of Banjo Boy. But then, a couple of weeks ago, it was Jack Lowden. I wish they'd hurry up and tell us something, even if it's just "we've made a decision, and will announce it on (date)".

It's kind of weird they would announce the selected actor in this timeframe. I mean, we're going into the Thanksgiving/Christmas rush. You'd think they would wait until the new year when the holidays are over and they can maximize the publicity big time.

So I take it this is from an article or interview. It was hard to tell but I realize now your comment is at the end where you use the word "moron" and the first part is a quote from some source. I wouldn't take the Brosnan comment seriously. What's he gonna do? No reason for him to badmouth Turner. He's just doing the professional courtesy kind of thing. Besides, if he said something negative, it'll get amplified by the sensational media and he'll come across as an A-hole. It'll be negative publicity for him. He did say at the end he's eager to see who becomes the next 007. So it's not like he's fully endorsing Turner.

They're scraping the bottom of the barrel with this alleged shortlist of candidates. If true, the only one who I could possible tolerate as Bond is Lowden. In this photo, he kind of reminds me of a young Roger Moore in Live and Let Die or The Man With The Golden Gun.

Lowden is someone I don't really have an opinion on one way or the other. The only thing I've seen him in was a BBC adaptation of War and Peace 10 years ago, which I barely remember.

I get where you're coming from. A (very) little bit of Moore, but oddly I am also getting some slight Simon Pegg vibes from that photo!

As I wrote here before they actually got Mark Umbers to play Roger Moore and he looked a lot more convincing (In the still photos, as I must admit I didn't watch the show).

I must admit when I first saw Dalton as Bond I felt he had the wrong look, but over time I came to like him as Bond. It helped how he portrayed the character and spent time reading the books I think. So for someone like Lowden I will wait until I actually see him acting as Bond and even then give it some time to sink in.

I won't hold my breath though.

I've said before that still images are not enough to offer a real judgement. They don't tell you anything about an actor's voice. movements, mannerisms and so on. All these things go into making up an actor's performance. However, when you have someone like Callum Turner, it would take a lot to make me change my mind based on his initial appearance.
