Thank you friend. Very kind of you. I'd did look at a few other sites, but all of them had one thing in common. They all worship Craig. CBN, Ajb.007, Mi6, Bond and Beyond. Same s**t, different site.
It's time to get Bond back on track, be it Turner or Hiddles, I'm not worried. Give us back Bond...James Bond. This nonsense has gone on long enough.

From what I've seen Ajb.007 is relatively decent in comparison to Mi6. That place is just out of control completely.

I introduced myself into the Time To Die spoiler thread, but here I go again:

I'm a huge Bond fan from Argentina since early 1998, when watching GoldenEye opened the first doors to the incredible world of Ian Fleming's creation. Tomorrow Never Dies followed, then some of the Moore and Connery films, then Dalton and Lazenby, then The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day. In the middle of this, I read some of the Fleming novels and then went on with Amis, Gardner and Benson. Then with the post-centenary authors (not in that order, because some of them weren't published over here).

I'll be completely honest: never disliked Craig that much and I enjoyed Casino Royale, mostly for Campbell's direction and Eva Green. I have reasons to like SPECTRE because at least it tried to give us a confident Bond and to get back on track with the formula, other reasons are personal and go beyond the movie itself. But then, Time To Die came and, on me, it gave me the exact opposite effect of GoldenEye: it made me stop being a Bond fan, at least a Bond fan who cares about what follows next. I'll stick to the Brosnan era and the films that preceded it, even Never Say Never Again which is placed next to Octopussy since September 29, 2021.

As I said before, Bond fans are my friends, Brosnan Bond fans are my brothers.
Hope to spend a tranquil time over here, today's fandom is really a crappy place to be and they like Bond to stop being Bond, but then again, Barbara seemed to approve it, so what can we do?

Thanks for resurrecting this thread NS, I always like to get to know the new members better and get an idea of where they fell off the EON bandwagon. Like you I went along with CR, it was a fine movie as a sort of "one off" like LTK, an experimental take then back to business, unfortunately that wasn't the case. For me it was SF that was the last straw, not so much for any one thing in the film (though I found much to dislike), but the fact we were 3 films in and nothing had changed.

Writings, the thing about this website is that it was ahead of its time back in 2007. We saw the 'writings' on the wall and were criticized for it and mocked. I am glad to see when people finally realize that what Broccoli does is taunt Bond fans into thinking she cares about daddy's sacred franchise, but in essence, she despises it with a passion and wants to recreate it in her own image and be seen as a Hollywoodie heavyweight producer. Glad to have you aboard :!:  Broccoli royally screwed over Brosnan, which should have been a gut punch to your Bond psyche. Which Bond is Argentina's favorite by the way, from what you see and hear there?

Well, indeed. I wouldn't have been too harsh against Craig if his story arc didn't have this "epic conclusion" aka the ultimate suicidal fantasy of today's fans where Bond is "anasssassssinn!" so "he deserves to diehhhh". And I'd bet he came up with this idea, and you know Babs can't tell him no. Then again, she screwed the franchise - and I'm not talking about financial gain, I'm talking about dealing with Bond's identity which is completely lost.

There aren't that many fans in Argentina, in the "fan club" sense, at least. Craig has a lot of appreciation, but there's a lot of nostalgia for Sean and Roger. And thankfully, Brosnan isn't as trashed as in other parts of the world. I'm sick of death everytime when they come with these pointless arguments of "Brosnan's films had bad scripts" or "weren't deep enough". I wrote books and articles on the many small things in the Brosnan films that are worth analyzing, things that you miss in first watches and you just say "nah, this is just an action movie". GE has a lot of Biblical references, all the characters are interesting, have a lot of personality, and represent the passing of time very well. TND has many Orwellian things, a villain with a Big Brother ambition. TWINE and DAD were, in fact, the basis for most of the Craig films. Every plot seems to take ideas from them, namely Skyfall. And QOS has all this rivalry between MI6 and the CIA with a rogue Bond that was very present in DAD.

So much for "weak films" with "bad scripts"! Why did they brought Campbell back? After all, he directed a generic 90s action movie that didn't save the franchise. Why David Arnold? If he's a hack that can't do great music. Why Judi Dench, that annoying M that appears everywhere on the field? Even more so... why Purvis & Wade? Weren't them those who wrote the "worst Bond film evah" and don't you dare say there's something relevant in it because you're a lunatic, or that the invisible car has a basis on a real-life science project by the Army and isn't far fetched because that goes against the Party. Despite all the positive things I recognize in CR and I think they adapted the plot fairly well for a 2006 movie (fighting with a novel where Bond is all day in a casino and does virtually nothing than playing cards, getting tortured, betrayed and finding his girl dead is tough), CR will always be a daughter of GoldenEye's success. As I said once before: should that not be an adaptation of Fleming's first novel or directed by Campbell, I wouldn't have watched it.

In other news, I created a FB group to breathe some unpolluted air in the fandom. Not a Craig-hating group nor anything to boycott NTTD or whatever, just a space to get together, share articles, fan arts or simply opinions without anyone telling you that "you're a lunatic if you prefer TWINE over Skyfall" or if you point out why do you think there are good things to point out in DAD. Everyone here's free to join, naturally, there are filter questions to keep the peace.

Welcome. I hope people can pop in more often. It was mildly difficult with Craig's 16 year run with a movie every 4 years. It ground people down in the end.
