Since I rarely vote in these so I'll do it now. Having played this game when it first came out I can speak to the impact it had on gaming and Jame Bond fans. I don't doubt the other game may have their merit and be technically superior, still there is something special about this game. Well to me there is.The Saint 007 wrote:GoldenEye 007 (1997) 12 +1

I'll add a vote for Ge 64 when I get to my lap top after all it's the granddaddy of games they have been trying to recapture for decades. I think we got out top 3 and they are good choices.

Re: Video Game (1997-2005) Elimination Challenge
GoldenEye was a good, make that d**n good game. It set a new standard for first person shooters, with it's lengthy single player and a robust multiplayer. Even a decade after it's release, there was a site dedicated to finding all it's hidden goodies such as the infamous Island. But as a Bond game, I get more out of Nightfire.

I second that, Daltonite. Yes, I do enjoy GE64 as a First person Shooter, but Nightfire has the essence of Bond like no other Bond game has. That's just me, though.

Re: Video Game (1997-2005) Elimination Challenge
No use in trying to fight a losing battle, but second place for GoldenEye is still good. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy most of EA's Bond games, but GoldenEye was my first Bond game and the one I have the most fondest memories of. There's just so many little interesting tricks and secrets to discover, and in my opinion, it has the most awesome music of any Bond game. Yes, it has aged a bit, but it's still quite fun to play, and I think it holds up far better than the Bond games we've been getting recently.

Re: Video Game (1997-2005) Elimination Challenge
Don't get me wrong, Saint007. It's helluva of a game, but to some people's eyes, like Daltonite's and myself, it is more of a cinematic Bond game with the feeling of a good Bond film rather than GoldenEye 007 which was more of a focused fast-paced massive first-person shooter, you know? What I mean is, GoldenEye 007 was a 100% action video game following the storyline of the film, but Nightfire featured more cinematic elements and very Bondian features, you know? The underwater car battle, the outer space, the facilities, the jungle, the stealth into a corporation building, etc. All this was accompanied with cutscenes and tremendous performances coming from the motion capture actors, voice actors and the animation, you know? Not to mention, it had the second-most Bondian soundtrack a game ever had. Cheers, mate.

So Nightfire won? The results being..
1. Nightfire (2002)
2. GoldenEye 007 (1997)
3. Everything or Nothing (2004)
4. From Russia With Love (2005)
5. Agent Under Fire (2001)
6. The World Is Not Enough (2000)
7. 007 Racing (2000)
8. Tomorrow Never Dies (1999)
That isn't a bad list, and I doubt if it would be much different if I were to rank them myself.

What's the next game: villians, cars, crumpet?
