Looks like EON are trying to cash in on the same publicity they created with Casino Royale - showing Craig in his speedos.....

A friend of mine said that Babara Broccoli would release a picture of Daniel Craig in his underpants a few months after the photos of him looking like a tramp with the beard!
Bring back Bond!

His look has been allover the place, seaman from a tugboat, sullen guy fighting a cold, buzz cut that woudl look awkward on a young man. It will be interesting to see how people will react to this unorthodox take. I'm sure plenty will be gaga over it just because, however more people may be bothered by him looking even less like Bond as he goes rather than growing into the role. Brozza got better in his portrayal and look as he went as producers got more and more careless. By DAD Brozza had a handle on Bond that the audience had not seen since Connery, really owning the role to a point his presence on the screen didn't invoke immediate comparisons to his predecessors. Craig has never step out of Bond's shadow to sufficiently encompass the role. Number one question gets is "when will Bond be Bond again", not to say people hate him (too many here woudl like to confuse this point ) except he had two bites at the apple to find his Bond to not come up with anything most people feel comfortable with.
Craig's/Babs take on Bond 2.0 is so radical there are enough people who think it is refreshing/authentic, a lot of hype and money poured into marketing doesn't hurt either. However the audience in general has a overwhelming desire to see Bond return with the staples they desire. After Quark it is a must, however Spyfails stated goal is tor turn Bond on his head for new generation of Bond films the audience didn't ask for. Quark/QoS main problem was not the choppy editing or half baked script (not to diminish their contribution), problem was the over all tone of the movie as established by Craig in concert with the producer(s) and director. It wasn't Bond and people minded it this time. Bad (read insulting) homages mixed with political rhetoric was a miss. EON is trying to spin too many plates with Bond forgetting all that Cubby established, once one plate starts coming down it going to be a cascade, requiring something radical to save the franchise if it goes too badly.

Re: First official photo of Craig as Bond - in his trunks!!
In the movie The American President, Michael Douglas has a line that applies to the teen generation that Eon believes will sustain DC. Since DC is their original reference, they feel he is what Bond should be. The line from the film Douglas says is, "THEY WILL DRINK THE SAND, NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE THIRSTY......THEY WILL DRINK THE SAND BECAUSE THEY DO NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE". Eon believes that by starting over with DC, the prior history will be negated. It is a wrong assumption.
