Carl, you grew up knowing about Romero's Joker? He was a big hit in the late 1960s. Supposedly Eon is cutting back on expenses to the point Cr-egg has to bathe in public fountains and eat Spam and Gravy Train as his meals. They need to show a profit to make DC look worthy of Bond 24 so the menu had to suffer.

I am just wondering.. how exactly do they think we'll buy a British shore for an exotic location when they're supposed to be in said location in the SUMMER and they're filming in freaking MARCH when it's bloody cold in England? They'll have Craig & C catch pneumonia and halt production for two weeks as they recover in order to save the money for the trip?! I fail to understand the logic.

I don't know, movie locations have successfully doubled for other places before. There are usually clues, though, like the unusually large number of Czech Airlines planes at "Miami Airport" in CR.

Sounding more and more like James Bond the Staycation. Seriously how much can it cost to get a few shots of somewhere warm and exotic?

I think for some of the special efects the producers will expect the audiance to use their imagination.
Or start inserting Bits of the Older Movies, have Craig ski in a yellow ski suit then simply splice in the
opening of TSWLM.

The 60's Batman series is always on UK TV. Two episodes of Batman are on one UK TV channel on weekday afternoons after The Fall Guy which makes a great two hours of TV if you are watching TV at that time.

I personally don't think this is a bad thing.
I wrote a blog about this on my site. Read it here - http://www.filmnav.co.uk/2012/01/21/fro ... with-love/

If you use a place to pretend it's somewhere else it has to at the very least be in the right season. There's no way March in the UK can replace somewhere in the Caribbean where it's hot as hell and people are sunbathing on the beach! Which means they will have to do that on a set if they really are doing it. And per above, too, is it really that difficult to have someone take some establishing shots of a Caribbean beach? The rest can be done green screen on a set. Way better than trying to pass a British beach in March for a Caribbean one.

I was right - Seannery never once set foot in America throughout the filming of Goldfinger. But I think part of the problem is that they chose Bognor Regis, which sounds like the sort of thing that someone might say as a joke ("First India, now South Africa...at this rate, they'll be filming Bond 23 in Bognor Regis"). Camber Sands, which has a long history of doubling for desert locations in British films, wouldn't have been as inherently funny.

Filming in the UK is OK, when they need a few exterior shots ( no point in flying a crew out somewhere for a six
second shot ) But it seems from the reports that Turkey is the ONLY Foreign Location.
You'd thing if they where hard up for cash they could a nip over to Dublin to at least add One other
country to its location shooting.
If DC goes swimming off Bognor in this cold weather His Man Boobs will be enormous

I'd take this story with a pich of salt, Ale. I doubt they will try and pass off a windy looking, British pebbly beach as the clean white sands of the Carribean....unless they plan on doing a CGI job on the beach, sea and sky....

Actually, that's a scary thought....I hope EON don't get ideas.

Didn't the Caribbean fill in for the the Mediterranean in CR? Not really the same thing, but CR was on the other night(on BBC America this time).

Sweeney's right though-a lot of trickery(read:GGI) would be needed to turn a British beach into the Caribbean.

This kind of news is disheartening. EON's new motto is "We always put the money on the screen, but my god have you seen the price of jet fuel?". I do not think they have put the money on the screen for a long time now. Die Another Day had a few locations that felt exotic and exciting but ultimately still felt done on the cheap. Casino Royale looked cheap and was. Quantum Of Solace I do not even know where to begin, very bad use of the money.

Skyfall is supposed to redeem not just Daniel Craig as Bond it is supposed to redeem EON too. Bleak pictures from the set, cold dreary looking things. Daniel Craig sitting alone at the pool looking a dreary as he was in Quantum. The excitement was filming at a lot of cool locations this time with (hopefully) a good story. Skyfall might have a good story sine they have been working on it with this goal in mind, the news coming out is not impressive, "We forgot to budget the cost of a stunt in India, hope nobody minds green screen."

Skyfall synopsis
M's favorite garden gnome has come up missing Bond searches the county side to find a replacement stumbling upon a sinister plot threatening the security of the realm.

Skyfall was probably the code name for some past plot M headed prior to being M and is now resurfacing, with MP and Q being introduced for the first time. I believe Mendes is another Forster jackass director who is clueless on the spy genre and will sink this further into oblivion........Henry awaits :!:

Only if Nothing Special fails in everything, especially in getting high profile movie award nominations including the Oscars.

Bond 23: Nothing Special getting nominations from the Oscars (even a single one in the technical category) = BAD IMAGE to the entire pop culture

DC's Bonds and Oscar nominations (either major or technical) DO NOT go together. Hopefully, Bond 23: Nothing Special gets NO attention from the Oscars or any other high profile awards like the Golden Globes, SAG Awards, MTV Movie Awards, and many others. What it deserves is getting devoured by Razzie nominations.

after watching haywire ( Good movie by the way ) There's a fight in a hotelroom which leads to
some running across rooftops, The same as in,..............

All the Bourne movies, Taken and QOS, I'd go so far as to say you could intercut these films
and no one would notice.

There was a time when a Bond film was special, No one else would of been able to pull off the
stunt or action sequence in the way a Bond film crew could. Now with their new direction
a Bond film is just another Generic action thriller.
I'm expecting more of the same from Skyfail.

This is all assuming they're doing it of course... taking that the news is accurate (like I said we'll know soon enough. They were supposed to be filming on location abroad from next week. If nothing surfaces, then the news is true). If that's the case I stand by my point. Though you made a good point how they could CGI the British beach as well
