Either she said that or more likely its opinion "journalism"
I saw this on the front page of Metro (a free, advertising-funded newspaper given away on buses and trains in the UK and aimed at commuters) this morning. Whilst using the headline "May: I'll rip up human rights legislation" was obviously a journalistic choice, they were her words, as I recall. Even if you believe that she is motivated purely by the desire to combat terrorism more effectively, and would never abuse the new powers she's seeking for herself, it shows what a horribly tone-deaf campaigner she is. No wonder she has plummeted in the polls over the last few weeks.
you're probably right. Here in the US it's nuts, the media takes innocent enough comment and plasters their most negative interpretation. Kind of like the onion and daily show do, used to do.

It's a crazy election!!!! The polls suggested that no party will have a majority so it is a disaster for Prime Minister Theresa May. She may have to resign... and the Brexit negotiations are supposed to start in a few weeks.
Still 40 seats yet to declare as I write this, so it's not clear yet what the new government will look like. So far, no party has enough seats to form a majority.

It's very exciting! The Conservatives are short of a majority in parliament. But Prime Minister Theresa May is going to get support from the Democratic Unionist Party (Northern Ireland Protestant party) to get a majority.
It's a bit weird with the DUP in that everyone is saying they are extreme. But they are now the biggest unionist party in Northern Ireland so normal people must vote for them, just as some normal people vote for Sinn Fein and they are the biggest nationalist party. Maybe everyone in N. Ireland is extreme. The SDLP got wiped out. I read that Fiannia Fail might start standing in N. Ireland - maybe to get their own back after Sinn Fein is doing well in the south.

I must confess to knowing next to nothing about Northern Irish politics. I knew who Sinn Fein are, of course, but this time last week, if you'd mentioned the DUP to me, you'd have just got a blank stare in return.
