Build-a-Bond
Build-a-Bond
The idea of this is to create your ideal Bond by taking one characteristic from each of the five or six previous Bond actors. I suspect most people won't want to take anything from Craig, except as a joke, but you can if you want. For example, my ideal Bond would combine:
Connery's effortless cool
Lazenby's martial arts skills
Moore's sophistication
Dalton's ruthlessness
Brosnan's charm
Connery's effortless cool
Lazenby's martial arts skills
Moore's sophistication
Dalton's ruthlessness
Brosnan's charm

Ohh!! Just about perfect there.

Re: Build-a-Bond
Sorry Kris you seem to have started out on a high note.
I would stay with Connery for looks and body build. Lazenby had a balance of emotion and vulnerability. Moore had tough side to him as well as a dapper classiness. Dalton had a caring side not often seen in the Bond movies. Brosnan helped to update Bond's image to be more palatable to a world changed by feminism and political correctness, his Bond had a skill dealing with diverse peoples and dramatic changes to the world stage.
Connery's charisma
Lazenby's physicality
Moore's ruthlessness
Dalton's determination
Brosnan's sophistication and charm.
Craig's shoe lifts

Re: Build-a-Bond
For face, I'd meld Connery and Brosnan ... a non-jowly face, Connery eyebrows and hair(!) style. Same for physique, a slim-downed Connery, or a slightly beefed up Brosnan, although if forced a choice, Brosnan is closer to 'reality' since Bond isn't supposed to be standing out in the crowd, and Connery's big shoulders would be instantly recognizable in a spy (Yes, I remember him, the rather wide shouldered chap with big eyebrows, he was stooping deboarding from Japan Airlines....).
Connery had the 'wink wink' charisma down pat, sort of Errol Flynn/Bogart. Brosnan and Moore close, but somewhat forced (I still can decide who's my favorite Bond between Brosnan and Connery, btw). So its Connery's magnetism mixed with Moore and Brosnan self-effacing.
Dalton had a lot of good points, looks, physique, seriousness.... but he's a bit too serious, and a bit too stiff in a tuxedo. Bond needs to look like he was born in a tux, not like the Craigster, whose tux was made in a sausage haberdashery.
Yes, add Lazenby's more in your face fighting skills (how often did he use a stunt double?).

I wouldn't include Brosnan's charm, as it usually (SEE: always) crossed over to unbearably smarmy. Change charm for fashion sense, and that would me mine.Kristatos wrote:Connery's effortless cool

Re: Build-a-Bond
You know this is one of the most important facts about what and who Bond is supposed to be Connery slept int he suits to feel at home in them Craig s look too small on him and no where near the class Bond should have. I know they are made by a famous name they just don't look good to me not saying the suits are bad its how they fit Craig it looks like a football player going to a club Saturday night.commander0077again wrote:For face, I'd meld Connery and Brosnan ... a non-jowly face, Connery eyebrows and hair(!) style. Chief of Staff, 007's gone round the bend. Says someone's been trying to feed him a poisoned banana. Fellow's lost his nerve. Been in the hospital too long. Better call him home.

Wait we can pick their wife?!
Lazenbys Dubbing serious answer athleticism
Connerys coolness
Moores sophistication
Daltons ruthlessness
Craigs ability to survive (can't drown him can't shoot him nails pull right out)
Brosnans charm I guess he could mingle with any crowd coolly
I think Lazenby and Dalton were the kick ass Bonds of the series

I shan't be able to pass a at this comment, Omega!
But semi-serious, I'd add that Lazenby in real (w)life certainly used Bond's creativity to win the biggest movie role in the world.... outfoxing the EON bigwigs and bigger toupees by acting like Bond, no doubt wearing a well-fitted suit; was his Rolex real or a knock-off? And then, playing hard to get: "We'd like you to test for ----" "I've got a mission .... in Paris ...." and they even pay him a retainer. And then after all that, he ceases being Bond and throws it all in the river....

Re: Build-a-Bond
I'm thinking about Brosnan's overall Bond portrayal, only with his coldness played up more. Looks wisely, he's nearly perfect as Bond (handsome with cold look, tall but not imposing), and on his ruthless moment (like when he killed Kauffman and Elektra), he actually coming very close in portrayed Fleming's Bond while still have the soul of movie Bond. Of course, with Connery's cruel mouth, jaw line and baritone, we came even more close for perfection.

Yes, but this game is supposed to be about picking the best quality from each actor, so that's not really getting into the spirit of the thing.Veronica wrote: Brosnan had the charm, the ruthlessness, the sophistication, the effortless cool and he was also good with martial arts skills. So there you go...you don't have to create an ideal Bond because we have one
