Daniel Craig keen for stage role

Post by CaptainLewis »

Daniel Craig has admitted that he would jump at the chance to appear in a play.

The 007 star, whose new film Defiance opens on Friday, is eager to make a return to the stage but not if the play is too complex.

The Sun quotes him as saying: "If a play came along right now, I would jump at it. I'm very keen on doing new writing with plays - that's where my heart is."

The 40-year-old confessed that he would prefer to stay away from appearing in a Shakespeare production, saying: "Not that I don't think that doing the classics is a wonderful idea, but Shakespeare's got too many lines and the other stuff is really complicated."

That would be a bit of a leap backwards for Craig wouldn't it.

Thinking about it isn't Timothy Dalton, some sort of classical actor.

Yup, and he didn't find Shakespeare too much like hard work either.

Pretty sure that Craig did plays before he hit it big,so yeah,a bit of a step back. But apart from Bond,he doesn't have much else(his non-Bond films are hardly blockbusters :?)

You're correct Katied, stage work was how he began his acting career.

He's doing Pantomime later this year!:

CRAIG: "Where's my Bond career?"
AUDIENCE: "It's behind you!"

He's also going to appear in the QOS stage spin-off: "WAITING FOR GOD-AWFUL",
followed by it's sequel: "STILL WAITING FOR NET PROFITS"

He's then going to appear in a production of Monty Norman's musical: "A HOUSE FOR MISTER BISWAS" - which will be the first thing he's ever appeared in, that actually features the James Bond Theme during it!
