Time for Another Writing Campaing

Bizjournal.com reports that Liberty Media may bid for MGM. http://www.bizjournals.com/denver/stories/2009/12/07/daily29.html If that turns out to be the case, we need to start writing them about a real reboot of the franchise to turn Bond films back into the Hollywood events and box office successes...

Re: Blofeld: A McClory rights Bond film?

I didn't know that Barry was originally set to score the Incredibles, but I totally agree that the film's score was very much in his style, and would have been great for a Bond film.

Re: Blofeld: A McClory rights Bond film?

Although I grew up on the Roger Moore films and loved the Rog as Bond, I always treasured the first five Connery films as classics. I also enjoyed DAF, simply because it was a fun film, if not the best Bond movie. When NSNA came out, I saw it along with Octopussy that year. While I enjoyed both, I h...

Re: QOS Falls Behind DAD at US Box Office

You're overlooking the change in exchange rates. Since 2002, the value of the dollar against foreign currencies has fallen considerably. Even with inflation, CR and QOS would look like they had bigger foreign grosses because when you convert them into dollars, there would be more dollars per currenc...

Re: QOS Falls Behind DAD at US Box Office

Update: It looks as if QOS has petered out pretty much where I thought at $168 million. It is the first Bond film I know of that has not recovered its cost from the American gross. The final results of the American gross, with inflation, for the last three Bond films are: QOS - $168,368,427, foreign...

Re: QOS Falls Behind DAD at US Box Office

As of now the film has grossed $151,468,000 in the states and is dropping an average of 68% per day this week. Go to the following link at boxofficemojo.com. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/showdowns/chart/?view=daily&id=bondbournevs.htm QOS has been earning less per day than both CR and DAD for a week...

Re: QOS Falls Behind DAD at US Box Office

Hmmm. The US isn't the be all and end all. QOS needs to make $600 million in order to make a profit. It has already made over $400 million worldwide with Australia, New Zealand, Japan and large parts of Latin America still to open. Whilst I'm sure that a 40% second weekend drop in the UK and a 60% ...

Re: Bond makes it a month at top of box office

Japan is really the only major market left for QOS to open in, and it will not add much more than $18 million to to the box office. That will leave the running total at about $330 million for the foreign box office with nearly $100 million left to match CR, and that would only be in 2006 dollars. In...

Re: QOS Falls Behind DAD at US Box Office

The reason I am open to any possibility, including a Brosnan return is that they have made two movies with Craig so far. In the US, CR fell short of DAD in inflation-adjusted dollar both at the box office and in terms of DVD sales and tie-in marketing revenues. When Pierce was Bond his face was all ...

Re: QOS Falls Behind DAD at US Box Office

QOS US Box office may very well crap out at $150 million or lower. Considering the $200 million budget that will not speak well for the future of this iteration of Bond. Even with the gangbuster business overseas, if your American gross don't pass your film budget, the film is considered a flop in ...

Re: Is Quantum Of Solace the worst ever James Bond film?

Dud Another Day is the worst, with AVTAK a close second(its only saving grace is the theme) Both films are far more enjoyable to watch than CR. I have to agree. CR was a big, long over-stylized bore, and it was painful watching Craig pouting his way through the entire emotional range. Amazingly, the...

QOS Falls Behind DAD at US Box Office

As of the second weekend of their releases, QOS has grossed $109,483,000 and DAD grossed $101,379,700. In inflation-adjusted dollars that puts DAD at $122,045,330. Although in 2008 dollars QOS did have a better opening by about $10m million, the gross has been dropping off faster than DAD and CR sin...

Re: Roger Ebert's review!!

When I finally got to see Casino Royale my conclusion was that it was a decent spy movie but bore no resemblance to either the movie or literary Bond. I just watched a copy of Quantum of Solace at my friends house and I have to say that it was a terrible movie, Craig was more sallow and depressing t...
