The Sport thread (or sports for Americans!)

Post by carl stromberg »

Anyone watching the Rugby Union Six Nations? I thought England were eccentric in the second half; they must have had a bet on the Welsh at half time.

Can I remind our American members that the Superbowl is today. It's live on free to air UK TV on the BBC. I might have a look, but it's on a bit late.

Super Bowl XLII the Patriots and Giants! The Patriots have won 18 games straight.
Perfect ending to the perfect season?
The Giants are not my team but sort of hope they pull it off.

I'm American, but I have never been a fan of football. Maybe that's because I do never had a local team to root for when I was a boy, but I dunno. I never got into the hype and think it's all nonsense. Go Lakers! :P

Looks like Man Utd will win the English Premier League again.

Anyone interested in the Indian Premier League Cricket?

And to think the BBC have hired Steve McClaren to be a pundit at Euro 2008. What a disgrace!

Man Utd: how lucky can you get!

They reminded me some of the German national teams in the past!

When is Euro 2008? Don't know if it will be shown over here, but between the Fox Soccer Channel, the various ESPN channels and all the Spanish-language channels (the Hispanic community love futbol), I'd be surprised if it didn't turn up somewhere.

7th of June I think.

I would put my wallchart up now, but England did not qualify because of some
:cuss: called McClaren. (I need the swear filters turned off really here!).

Oh, really. I've kind of lost interest in that case, unless Greece qualified.

Yes Greece qualified - they had to qualify even though they are the defending champions!

Cool, that means I have a team to support. At least in the first round.

They need to win against Russia on Saturday or they're out. Let's hope their players can survive the match without any mysterious incidents of polonium poisoning.

It could have been England v Greece (provided England would have been in the same pot as Russia for the group draw)!

I think someone said you were spotted in the Russian hotel kitchen with some polonium.
