The Last Movie You Watched
Re: The Last Movie You Watched
Let's Be Cops - not normally something I'd have gone to the cinema to see, but I had a money-off voucher for my local Odeon, which is only a 3-screen cinema, so the selection of films was limited. It was OK, reminiscent of the wave of '80s action comedies that followed the success of the first Beverley Hills Cop film. All it needed was a Harold Faltermeyer score. Entertaining enough, but I wouldn't have paid full price for it. 5/10.

Expendables 3
Verdict Does not suck (I need to look up my old ratings scale )
Biggest surprises were Wesley Snipes & Antonio Banderas those two really showed they have a lot more to offer. Mel Gibson,,,, Jesus, he was a crazy as I think he is in real life. He was a good main bad guy but I don't think he did himself any favors, he was like a old joker. Maybe it shows he's still got the chops, I dunno.
This movie one of the old Hollywood mainstays, does it's job efficiently and give the audience what they want. sadly it's taken a beating at the BO, i though at first it was because of a very good rip hitting the internet month before release after watching the releases that followed take as bad a beating I wonder if it isn't something more fundamentally wrong with the movie industry.

The November man
Verdict does not suck
Brosnan is good as a colder agent more ruthless than bond ever was. a few small issues with the movie but it does a good job delivering what it promised.
Full review in NM section.

It was basically a toss-up between that or Lucy, neither of which I'd normally pay money to see. My wife said she was in the mood for a comedy, so we settled on that one, since neither of us wanted to see The Inbetweeners 2.Omega wrote:I would never imagined you'd see this one.Kristatos wrote:Let's Be Cops - not normally something I'd have gone to the cinema to see, but I had a money-off voucher for my local Odeon, which is only a 3-screen cinema, so the selection of films was limited. Took the kids to Guardians of the Galaxy what a blast! Did it remind anybody else of Farscape?

I never watched Farscape; I'll see an episode on day.
I watched the latest Planet of the Apes. It was a bit grim - bur a good apocolyspse type adventure.

Gold with Sir Roger of Moore. I think he would have been a good Bond in the seventies.

The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies - 8/10
From my Facebook page (no spoilers):
"On the whole, I don't consider the Hobbit trilogy to be up to the standard of the LOTR films, but this was the best of the three by quite a substantial margin. It actually seemed like a cohesive story this time, rather than a string of setpieces. I was, however, constantly distracted by thinking how much Richard Armitage in this film reminded me of the late Roger Delgado."

Just saw BOTFA for the 5th time today. It gets better the more I see it, but nothing beats LOTR. As for the ranking of The Hobbit films, it's best of trilogy.

Re: The Last Movie You Watched
We just watched Maleficent, really was unsure about this one. It follows the recent trend of reinterpretation of classic fairy tales, dozens in recent years. I guess Shrek started it.
It was pretty fun and we all enjoyed it. what I liked is the Disney new interpretation of true love.
I like that if only because the old Disney prince charming to the rescue was old fashion and in some ways dangerous to young girls

Spoiler
like frozen it is true love between females in a non sexual manner (i suppose that's next ), love of mother daughter, sisters, or someone who loves the cursed girl like a mother in a true, unspoiled, unselfish way.

I'm going to join the bandwagon:) battle of five army's is the best of the hobbit trilogy. Still not as good as Lotr trilogy but I still enjoyed all the hobbit movies.FormerBondFan wrote:Just saw BOTFA for the 5th time today. It gets better the more I see it, but nothing beats LOTR. Critics dogging this have Something else behind their bad reviews, maybe they are angry at losing almost 9 hours of their life watching the hobbit.
Not to spoil it but the movie works, no glaring errors in logic. Battles work out , the why of why the characters do what they do make sense.
A few small complaints come to mind nothing to take away from the adventure

I don't think PJ intended The Hobbit to be better than LOTR. If anything, the former is like a group of pieces building up to greatness of the latter.
