Honestly I only saw a few things about the joker movie. We stream all of our tv and do not watch a lot of content with advertisements. From what we saw I never had the impression it was a musical.
I've just got back from the cinema, and I quite liked the film, though it probably doesn't need to be seen on the big screen. I've no idea how it cost $200 million to make. It's hard to argue that the money is all up there on the screen, as it is mostly a prison/courtroom drama. The musical numbers actually do have an in-story justification. Arthur and Harley first meet at a singing group for inmates at Arkham Asylum, and then later they take on a hallucinatory quality, representing Arthur's increasing detachment from reality. It reminded me of the way Dennis Potter used music in The Singing Detective.

Took the kids to see Sonic. It was decent enough. Sufficient content for adults, fun for the kids. I don't need to see it again, but it was worth being with them for it.
