Re: Box office thread
Family went to see Jurassic world again. For a post Covid imax theater it was packed. As you know capacities are different now but it was pretty well filled out every row.
I think it could be a closer three way finish then Bo mojo predicts
Latest Weekend: Jun 24-26
Top Gun: Maverick $30.5M
Elvis $30.5M
Jurassic World Dominion $26.4M
The Black Phone $23.4M
Lightyear $17.7M
Two movies have dominated so far this summer and both are throw back to movies Hollywood used to make.
Also Both are not the types of movie franchise Hollywood like to see win.

Re: Box office thread
Surprised to see League of Super Pets and Nope doing so well. Neither is the usual summer blockbuster fare. Horror films normally do best around Halloween, though I suppose Super Pets and Minions fill a gap in the market for films aimed at younger kids.

Re: Box office thread
BJ will like this news, Elvis is apparently the third highest-grossing music biopic of all time. The figures are somewhat misleading, as they aren't adjusted for inflation, but can it beat the number one film, Bohemian Rhapsody?

Latest Weekend: Aug 5-7
Bullet Train $30.1M
DC League of Super-Pets $11.2M
Nope $8.5M
Thor: Love and Thunder $7.6M
Minions: The Rise of Gru $7.1M
I don’t expect bullet train to be big numbers but Hollywood reporting is quick to accept numbers like this as good. While busting down movies this year they didn’t like but preformed at nearly what they did before Covid.
Also there are movies this year still in the top 5 after home video release, which I think should help studios rethink the release schedule. Of course it could also be how Disney controlled the theater screen availability now. We may need to look at the totals , ranking, then see how many screens.
Top gun maverick is one of the only not releasing home video after pre sales day of release promising a 30 window. They are top gun world wide using classic Hollywood logic but I don’t wonder if there won’t be some pushback because of the promise of early release. Then again with 2760 screen they are 6th this week with $7.029 million everybody else has over 3000 screens
