Why? Other than Spielberg there is NO originality in that rancid and disgusting town of self-absorbed misfits :!: Rappers are now actors? Really? Compare that to the films of yesteryear. The current product of PC drivel is NOT selling outside of the superhero genre.

That's actually not too bad. By my count, that's half original and half based on an existing property (sequels, remakes etc).

Not a single new entry in the top 10? That's pretty bad for a holiday weekend. The highest new entry was a horror movie, Don't Let Go, at #13. I swear Halloween gets earlier every year.

Very diverse crop of new releases this week: Downton Abbey, Ad Astra and Rambo! If I had to make a prediction for #1, it would be Downton. Whilst the
appeal of the TV show has always been a bit of a mystery to me, I realise that it is very popular. Ad Astra is not based on an existing property, which seems to be the kiss of death nowadays, whilst the Rambo brand is long past its prime.

Rambo is way past it. Although Stallone finds real world realities to add to the story nobody is aware of, I’m not going to waste a trip to the movies for Rambo killing Mexicans.

Ad Astra I’m interested in, but old Latin titles don’t usually sell well.

Downton Abby, is it big enough here to do well? I don’t get it and I don’t care to, kind of a PBS rerun.

I see a lot of my American Facebook friends talking about it, even ones who I wouldn't expect to be interested. To me, it looks like just another period drama, but I wouldn't count it out. Ad Astra's trailer didn't really grab me either, but I would like to see an original (ie non-franchise/sequel/remake) movie do well.

Friday Box Office Estimates
1. Downton Abbey - $13.8 million
2. Rambo: Last Blood - $7.17 million
3. Ad Astra - $7.16 million
Get the full chart here: https://imdb.to/2V4gVUm

Looks like I was right, though I take no pleasure in saying that. I don't know how good a predictor Friday totals are for the full weekend.

Ad astra did better than expected, could go either way, Hobbs and Shaw lingers long enough to make $750 million world wide.

Years beck I remember hearing about another Rambo movie in the making, except I thought the plan was to reboot/retell it with Stallone picking a young actor to play Rambo. Maybe the rocky reboot with that egomaniac Michael B Jordan changed his mind?

My guess is Downton Abby is going to be the real money maker, followed by Rambo, Stallone knows how to keep the budget lean, reports are it’s $50 million with no real advertising budget.
Ad Astra is $80-100 million budget

Oh, downton Abby is $80 million at a minimum. Humm . I think it can clear $240 million world wide. Rambo will make money some place in its release, ad astra I don’t see finishing any where near $300 million needed

Downton Abbey cost $80 million to make? From what I heard, it's basically a double-length TV episode
