The I-Spy book of silly season Bond rumours

Post by Kristatos »

Anyone remember I-Spy books? They were a series of books (I say "were", but for all I know, they're still being published) designed mainly to keep kids from getting bored on long car journeys by giving them things to look out for and points for spotting them. I thought I'd do one for silly season Bond rumours. So:

Bookies slash odds on Damien Lewis/Idris Elba/Tom Hardy being the next Bond - 5 points
Distinguished actor to appear in next Bond film - 10 points
A-list actress to become a Bond girl - 10 points
Former Bond to return in a cameo role - 20 points
Former Bond to return as a villain - 25 points
Craig wants a gay Bond* - 50 points

Have I missed any out?

*=I think this one is dead and buried now, but it's risen from the grave before, and could do so again.

Early on there were the vesper message from the grave video messages that it looks like they decided to go with M.

IMO Distinguished director is the next big rumor.

And the next movie will be based on whatever the latest book was.

He looks Ms Brocs type. Not sure how to feel about it if it were true.

How about 5 points for "Craig Quits"?. The Sun ran that story today which is sadly not true.

Daniel Craig 'is not quitting James Bond' according to his reps, despite reports to the contrary

Several newspapers have run stories claiming that Craig has decided to leave the 007 role behind him after four movies, but his representatives have denied the story.

The claims arrived after Craig had signed up to star in a new US TV series based on Jonathan Franzen's novel Purity.

However, his rep has said that no decision has been made, and although he will film Purity it doesn't necessarily mean he can't do both.

Craig has made it very clear in the past that he is a tad fed up with playing James Bond, previously declaring that he'd rather "slash [his] wrists" than do it again.

However, he later backtracked and said that he "has the right" to change his mind over whether or not he returns.

To be expected. Even if he did quit why wouldn't he wait to admit it until the last second? The moment his replacement is named his stock in Hollywood drops.

A total non-story based on an offhand remark made by Craig "years ago", though they did at least end the headline with a question mark.

it was funny how they phrased it "...will not be taking the role of Craig in 007."
I know what the meant but the way some fans are they act like Craig was when bond began and must have Craig to continue. And some of the jokes "they will cast a new person as Daniel Craig" :)

The Bond distributors/producers are willing to delay "Bond 25" to accommodate a past his sell by date Craig. That's a silly story isn't it?

this is where we are any way. Poor precious Craig everyone wants him back. Except he looks awful even after all the Hollywood magic and his story was crap and movie lost money for the studio.

Mgm wants these movies faster because it give them a greater chance of making money, eon has yet to get their act together and have a plan beyond the idea they'll make another.

Seriously the franchise could use some new blood. Craig is tiered and hates it everyone can see it. But I don't think mgm wants to be the reason Craig does not come back, firing pierce was a nightmare and he was willing to be bond and ready to work. Eon was talking about two films back to back Craig has said no to before, I wonder if they aren't trying to make a situation where Craig gets canned but they look good because the bent over backwards to keep him and he was just ungrateful.
