The list seems to vary according to the source. I know that Henry Cavill and Sam Worthington were shortlisted, not sure about the other two.

I was a big supporter of Worthington for the role, seemed like he would be a good pick on the surface but in some ways he cruder than Craig. More movies I saw him in the less I thought he'd be a good bond.

Anyway Worthington told a story a long time ago I think before avatar or about that time, he said he was hired by the bond producers and was undergoing months of SAS sort of gun training in Australia to get him ready to hold a gun on camera as 007.

The other story is Henry Cavill was the choice the director and studio had settled on for a young James Bond, babs overruled them.
According to stories before skyfall Craig's contract was about to expire over three years passed with no movie being made as Timothy Daltons had after LTK. Craig was talking like he might not be back, MGM was undergoing bankruptcy and starting to get its act together supposedly Henry Cavill was called in to talk with bond producers I think this was before he was cast as superman, maybe not. The other story that was part of this was some people in eon (not babs obviously) wanted to launch a new Bond for a new decade. Again all before skyfall during a time when it was uncertain when MGM would emerge out of bankruptcy.

Cavill and Turner are the only two names we know talked with eon and studio heads but we have no idea what they said or if there was a serious consideration of hiring them.
Worthington at one point said he was hired seems maybe even trained for action at some point again we got no idea if he was a serious hire or a backup like so many actors who have come out years after the fact saying they were hired to play bond or back ups to bond. Nobody thinks about it but these movies cost so much to make is a disaster like a lead actor getting too hurt to work or dying happens the insurance companies insist on a backup/understudy ( I guess) being hired to help production finish so hundreds of millions aren't wasted.

Since he comes from the same country as I, I can safely say he was never a serious contender for the role.

Will we have to wait another 10 years for Bond number 7 after the new Craig rumours?

James Bond is dead. Kingsman is all we got in terms of a classic Bond. That and M:I.

while I've always been pessimistic about Craig leaving I have to admit this time feels different. I'm not sure all this talk of him coming back isn't just talk like it was with Brosnan.
But I have to remind myself it's babs and despite making two movies that either lose money or make very little she undeterred in her delusion.

On the other hand Craig feels like such old news and played out, still I can see babs hiring her badly aged Roger Moore back until the franchise is in the ground.

We may get an official announcement of a Craig return today for all I know but, this feels eerily similar to Brosnan heading into Casino Royale. Either way I think next month will shed some light with Craig having a movie realease (Logan Lucky) Id be shocked if he and the rest if the cast dont get asked about Bond on a regular basis.

I just read a blind from "anonymous inside source" that Craig agreed to sign for one more installment since all the other offers weren't so rewarding money-wise. Hoping this isn't true. No one's really all that excited to see him as Bond anymore and all these stories about him being offered gazillion dollars to come back are ridiculous.

He's not Robert Downey Jr or Johnny Depp who have star power for f***s sake. Far from it.
It makes no sense to throw that kind of money at him. A much better solution would be to hire a new Bond because that's definitely something people would be more excited about.

Well johnny depp isn't much of a draw any more. Craig I doubt I'd getting much in the way of offers and they are not going to pay him 8 million for scowling at the camera. That was what he got for a few films after CR but none of those films did well critically or financially.
Bond doesn't need Craig , Craig is still nothing without bond . Lucky Logan is not going to turn the summer movie slump around

Logan Lucky may not be a big movie but it most likely will be the medias first chance to question Craig on this Bond rumuor if its not confirm or denied by then.

probably right about that. Last pr Craig did he shot down the crazy Sony rumor with huge amounts of money. Also said nobody was talking to him about anything and there was no progress.
Not that he hasn't lied about obvious stuff like MP, Q, & Blowfeld.

I know what you mean he could bend the truth or no comment or even give bland answers but for some reason I think Craig will state it bluntly.

I think that was more of a case of trying to prevent spoilers. Steven Moffat does the same thing with Doctor Who.

If we are getting a Bond #7 I can understand the need to not spoil anything as thered be a press conferance announcement etc.....but if Craig is coming back whats the big deal about just saying it if this current rumuor is true its just more of the same so why not just confirm the rumuor?

In my opinion Daniel has so little regard for James Bond he will have no problem saying 'it's all :cuss: :cuss: :cuss: rubbish', if he is not interested. He did have a strange Q&A were has was all 'I will miss it terribly if I were to leave'. Still I believe if asked he will have some sort of answer prepared, the only uncertainty is if normal crass Daniel answers or if we will hear the voice of his agent as he puppets a polite response. Speaking of, what if his agent is behind the super sweet diabetes inducing 'rumours'? Would not be a bad play to demand more pay from other roles by pretending he is still a commodity because of 007. Once he leaves his career is going to noise dive, not that there would be much of a difference judging by how he handled his down time from Bond.

I have a sneaking suspicion these rumors are an attempt my the media to pressure a response one way or the other from EON. The fact that a Craig return has not been confirmed is rather telling, as tbp82 says if he is coming back why not say so, but EON is standing mute because they haven't made up their mind and/or they have but all the pieces aren't in place yet for an announcement. I seriously doubt all this hand wringing is over an attempt to woo Craig back, as we have seen Craig has no real options outside of Bond, so despite his "slash my wrist" remarks he knows this is his cash cow and needs to milk it as long as it still lives, I can't imagine him not jumping at another fat pay check while he still can. At the same time EON knows or should know it's time to move forward, I did a rant on this very subject not long ago in which I stated some of the various reasons dropping Craig is the smart move to make. For example all but the staunchest Craig fan boys have moved on and are ready for a new face, not to mention a new actor would be cheaper, just to name a few.

Ironically for those of us rooting for a Bond #7 for whatever reason we need to be rooting for Craigs role in Logan Lucky to be q huge success so he can think hes moved on from Bond.
