Re: President Trump
When I see a left winger say that Biden could DIE soon or DIE in office, then I will agree with you. Are you so naive that you do not realize that their hatred of Trump is pathological and not political any longer? They are wishing for him to drop dead at any moment and it is evident every single day on their shows. These are the same people that tout how great and safe things are here too! DEMENTED people!

Re: President Trump
Well, I saw lots of Democrats begging Biden not to run. They didn't come right out with it as bluntly as Psaki, but fears that he could drop dead at any minute were certainly not far from the surface.

Re: President Trump
BUT they NEVER said BIDEN could DIE in office as blatantly and as openly as Psaki did, who is a Biden shill. Two years ago the pompous and disgusting ass Joy Behar said 'heaven forbid Donald Trump should live another 20 years!' After the commercial break she was FORCED to apologize for saying that. If someone said Oh-bama should not live another 20 years by a conservative on tv, what do you think the response would be by the liberals? ALL of these lawsuits have become a circus and an embarrassment for the prosecutors bringing them as well. I do NOT trust the NY Manhattan 12 jurors either. Maybe "1" will have the decency to see through this nonsense and have a hung jury.

Re: President Trump
It’s all hypocritical. Biden moves like some kind of puppet, almost medically induced. But his health is not to be questioned.
Trump is going to be over 80 when he finished his next term if elected. His health isn’t supposed to be questioned because he had “good genes”.
There should be questions on why these two are the best we as a nation can get as choices,
But when we get young president we get W bush and Obama, who just follow their party line and don’t actually lead . Their predecessors / daddy’s / Clinton’s , officials just go back to their old desks and enact the same failed policies.
IMHO that’s why some like trump because whatever he’ll do will not be the same thing they (the federal government) did before.
There will eventually be a democrat version trump candidate some day if that party ever stops rigging primaries.
Average income in the USA is $38,000 , out of 333 million citizens , average income is less than $40,000. Yet our leaders are all in the 12% or above . None of them know the daily struggle most Americans face because those struggles are kept well out of our leaders zips code so they don’t have to face such unpleasantness.
I say that to say this, the cost of living in America , rent/housing, cell phone/ internet, utilities, transportation, are not held in any kind of check. The leader who figures out how to give just a little back to the population living day to day will revolutionize politics and the nation far as policies go.
Out of trillions spent very little benefits the population on a personal level.
Bread and circuses is forgotten.

Re: President Trump
That's precisely why the Dems won't ever stop rigging their primaries. They actually boast that the party establishment's grip is too strong to allow a populist candidate through. Any Democrat who doesn't want to be beholden to the party machine will have to run as an independent, like RFK Jr.Omega wrote: Fri May 10, 2024 11:18 am There will eventually be a democrat version trump candidate some day if that party ever stops rigging primaries.

This should probably go in the President Biden thread, but since it's been discussed in this one, here's a current article from a Democrat-supporting publication openly calling for Biden's removal as candidate: https://www.yahoo.com/news/democrats-jo ... 02644.html

President Trump
Just about the assassination attempt , completely preventable. I do not know the circumstances for those securing the even(s), rumors are secret service detail requested more resources and were denied. Which is in line with Democrat politicians were trying to yank security from Trump all together .
However I can add just from training I’ve seen, army rangers would have secured that area, any area with line of sight. Secret service are the elite, I do respect their training, obviously those agents close to trump were completely willing to take a bullet for him and acted rapidly. The situation never should have happened, it’s that basic of a scenario.
Unfortunately This will lead to conspiracy theories of the federal government, relaxing security around Trump to encourage assassination.
It didn’t help matters with the federal response seems to be very slow and almost in coverup mode with the press conference last night.
If Trump hadn’t said anything on his social media they (the government) would never have admitted it was a shot the grazed Trump. Some were spinning a shattered teleprompter exploding hit him, which made no sense because both teleprompters were visible and intact in the footage.
Whoever this joker was he was radicalized by the political machine and possible irresponsible news cycle. When you tell people somebody is hitler over and over, and have democrat party representatives (some in the press) in hysterics because they want to rile up the voting base, get turn out for voting by saying all these things about Trump being fascist or whatever, just irresponsible. It’s done for political reasons to change the narrative in the new cycle, to get out votes, to raise funds, but it doesn’t reflect reality.
It also doesn’t help lame duck Biden will not get out of the way to allow another candidate, who has a chance of beating Trump to take the Democrat presidential nomination, which people got to realize frustrated a lot of people in the base of the parts especially those radicalized by the fringes of the democrat party.
I would add RFK responses were good and the bbc coverage from what (I remember last night) was some of the best, only lame spot was that guy reporting lying on the ground, when literally every other member of the press was on their feet and every attendee at the rally was also on their feet.

Re: President Trump
The standard definition of fascism is a nationalist form of right-wing populism centred on a myth of national renewal. That Trump fits this definition is undeniable. I'm glad that Trump survived the shooting (though spare a thought for the person in the audience who didn't), but it does seem to be a case of "live by the AR-15, die by the AR-15." Trump and the MAGA movement have been encouraging political violence against opponents for years, now it has sadly come back to bite them.

Re: President Trump
That’s not a correct interpretation of what fascisms is, it may be popular definition now. My professor’s definition was (older definition?) any government or organization in power who uses the power of the state to enforce the will of government (leader/dictator/political party). Examples use were government crack down on free speech, police state forcing policies on population without consent or recourse, (taking personal property, forcing relocation, removing rights of citizenship, using courts to enforce bureaucratic policy) with no checks and balances, no court system to stop the government, no legislature, withholding funding from the government. Which to me isn’t right or left wing.Kristatos wrote:The standard definition of fascism is a nationalist form of right-wing populism centred on a myth of national renewal. The old kings of England had to cede their absolute authority to a House of Lords (?), who controlled the funding, first division of authority and absolute power. The beginning of the bill of rights we know. but the magna carter was not important as it is remember now, there were later charters which were more important,, but it was a start.
Oddly communist/Soviet Union had a great bill of rights just no division of power to enforce it
To me Fascism starts with ceasing control of all branches of government. doesn’t have to be a populist movement or right wing however that’s probably what people believe it is now. And in popular culture Kris maybe correct on how the word is used today.
Honestly I’d argue the federal government has more more and more towards fascist control since the end of WWII, but that may just be how the bureaucracy of the federal government grew out of control.
Trump was president before, we know more or less what he’ll do. The people scream threat to democracy need to look in the mirror.
Ar15 comment if fair enough, however I’d argue the nut job driven to zealotry trying to kill a presidential candidate did so because he didn’t believe the system would work. In the last three weeks he’s been told for a fact it is broken, and there is no help. He’s been told by people that Supreme Court gave Trump absolute power which it didn’t. People on left are being worked up to such a degree it’s irresponsible (I believe the end goal is voter turn out as it is for the right ). I know the right wing does it too, however, most of the broadcast here and popular culture reinforces these left-wing tropes. Right wing culture has his bubble and broadcasting, but it is much less impact than the mainstream media here and social media here. Basically more people are exposed to the left wing political spin than right wing.
I’d add a large part of this attempt was Biden not willingly getting out of the race, it added to the panic and desperation people feel.
Of the two main marten presidential choices…. Honestly I’d prefer a leader, not in their 80s. And not part of the current political party system.

Re: President Trump
Your professor's definition of fascism could fit many authoritarian forms of government that are not fascist, eg the USSR under Stalin. Mine was a slightly simplified form of the "fascist minimum" defined by respected political scientist Roger Griffin: "Fascism is a political ideology whose mythic core in its various permutations is a palingenetic form of populist ultra-nationalism."
This in turn is a condensed version of Griffin's longer definition: "[Fascism is] a genuinely revolutionary, trans-class form of anti-liberal, and in the last analysis, anti-conservative nationalism. As such it is an ideology deeply bound up with modernization and modernity, one which has assumed a considerable variety of external forms to adapt itself to the particular historical and national context in which it appears, and has drawn a wide range of cultural and intellectual currents, both left and right, anti-modern and pro-modern, to articulate itself as a body of ideas, slogans, and doctrine. In the inter-war period it manifested itself primarily in the form of an elite-led 'armed party' which attempted, mostly unsuccessfully, to generate a populist mass movement through a liturgical style of politics and a programme of radical policies which promised to overcome a threat posed by international socialism, to end the degeneration affecting the nation under liberalism, and to bring about a radical renewal of its social, political and cultural life as part of what was widely imagined to be the new era being inaugurated in Western civilization. The core mobilizing myth of fascism which conditions its ideology, propaganda, style of politics and actions is the vision of the nation's imminent rebirth from decadence."

Re: President Trump
Well your definition is probably correct for the most part, to me fascism the actual mechanisms used and not the ideology of those using it.
Even communism was never truly fascist, but not because of the political nature of it, there were other protections built into it no matter how flimsy they were. Now Korea might be its own unique offshoot of communism.

I should point out that Griffin was specifically trying to set out what makes a movement fascist, as opposed to just authoritarian. All fascist movements are authoritarian, but not all authoritarian movements are fascist.

Re: President Trump
All of these words means absolutely nothing. The bottom line is Trump has been attacked since 2015 and now physically. There was NO Russia collusion---a LIE! The media ran with it and NEVER apologized. The liberals LOVE to brand counter thought with "terms" to falsely describe their opponents. Deceased Democrat Senator Harry Reid LIED that Romney never paid his taxes. He DID, and Reid admitted it after the Oh-bama won re-election. Schumer rants VIOLENCE against 2 Supreme Court judges and AG Garland REFUSED any secret service protection! RFK is begging for secret service protection and is being denied. ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, and CNN keep yelling that Trump is a threat to democracy which is another lie. Look at what the Democrats are now doing to Biden who won the primaries because they think he can lose to Trump. If Biden were ahead in all polls the Democrats would leave him be. People are fed up with 2 systems of justice as well and we all see what is going on here. The liberals have used impeachment and the judicial system to go after Trump and we all know it, so stop trying to deny it and admit it already. Civility is wanted NOW? The losers on the VIEW refuse to say Trump's name and when Whoopi finally did she had to spit into a cup afterwards! Sonny Hoistin, a real piece of trash, constantly calls Trump Hitler on ABC and is allowed to get away with it! The failure by the secret service should be investigated and heads must roll and people have to be fired for incompetency! Trump wins now in November more likely than before. https://x.com/endwokeness/status/181227 ... P0AH2B0RKw

Re: President Trump
Exactly, Democrats use lawful means, Republicans (like the shooter) prefer political violence. Trump talked about "second amendment people" stopping Hillary Clinton in 2016, and has repeatedly employed fascist rhetoric about "vermin poisoning the blood of our nation". Don Jr wore a Paul Pelosi Halloween costume consisting of a pair of underpants and a hammer. Republicans have consistently campaigned for mentally ill people to be allowed to own military-grade weaponry, and (since appointing a mobster as their head) for the FBI to be defunded. They kidnapped Gretchen Whitmer, and stormed the Capitol chanting "hang Mike Pence" when they lost an election. I'm glad Trump survived the shooting, unlike at least one person in the audience, but it's a bit like Doctor Frankenstein complaining that the monster he created has turned on him.bjmdds wrote: Sun Jul 14, 2024 8:19 pm The liberals have used impeachment and the judicial system to go after Trump and we all know it, so stop trying to deny it and admit it already.

Except for the social media interference case, Supreme Court kicked out some of the federal overreach. But then Biden just ignores the parts he doesn’t like and does it any way, just a w. Bush and Obama and I assume Trump did.
Imho the lawfare waged on Trump is definitely fascist, still there chances for the legal system to overturn it or dismiss it.
but this kind of overcharging is the government playbook for the last 30-40 years. They turn the doj on selected target , state and local prosecutors will make darling cases disappear and tar and feather whoever their masters in the donor class do not like. Honestly we need legal reform from so any citizen can defend themselves against the federal government without going bankrupt in the process.
Maybe reform how lawsuits work so these guys can’t get rich off lawsuits. You can always tell when you get to a big enough town with the population to support Trial lawyers because see billboards with “injured in an accident call me”advertisement .

Re: President Trump
Monday, Biden was intense about taking the battle for the presidency to Trump.
“We need to move forward. Look, we have roughly 40 days ’til the convention, 120 days ’til the election. We can’t waste any more time being distracted,” Biden said in a call to supporters, according to Politico.
“I have one job, and that’s to beat Donald Trump. I’m absolutely certain I’m the best person to be able to do that. So, we’re done talking about the debate,” Biden said, according to Politico.
“It’s time to put Trump in a bullseye,” he said
