I'm pretty liberal minded and left wing politically, but even I was mortified with the political correctness and female empowerment forced upon the Brosnan films. I don't oppose those things in real life but would've preferred Bond to stay Bond. Of course its only got worse with the reboot as well, thanks Babs...
Well, if the new 'M' had smoked a thin cheroot now and then, maybe I would've like her more
As for the date/marry topic: I did give a girl one of the classic (or classless) LALD tarot card decks, she liked Bond. You won't guess what happened when she shuffled them and turned up a card: 'The Lovers' (and didn't even have to use Bond's stacked deck!).... and yes, we ended up there. I think a Bond girl fan would be fun, even if we disagreed who the best / better Bond actors are, etc. just as long as she's easy-going about it, like Cmdr 0077. Thinking about it, I'd like to know a Bond girl who's a musician, too. That way, we could duet through the night. Btw, a beautiful (Bond?) girl told me a few weeks ago she loves me. First, she said, (just like Plenty O'Toole: "You're strange, Peter Franks, but I like you...") "You're weird..." and a few seconds later she said, "I love you." Actually, at this stage, it's like Enzo Ferrari's famous quote (am making it famous now): "When a man says he loves women, usually he's in lust with her." Oh, that Commendatore! But that is true, the feeling of 'in love' has a lot of passion to do with it; otherwise, what's the point?
Oh, btw, it's Thanksgiving in the States ... Happy One to all wherever you are! :cake:

I would love if my girlfriend was a Bond fan. Her father likes the movies (casual fan). I guess bond's appeal goes aa far as The Philippines.

I'd like to amend my post.... sounds a bit cold (Bond-coldish?) when I said, 'What's the point.' Yes, I know that love means standing by your besty friend or besty girl whatever happens. If she's a female, then if everything hits the fan, then you're still there. But aside from totally-only-spiritual love, definitely the 'mere' feeling of a hot, shexy girl is not to be downplayed. As for the Philippines, its said that Babs Brocs dumbed-down Bond because of the huge Pacific/Asian market: "They won't understand the subtle stuff, so we'll just put in Bourne-action." I think the audience 'over there' is more aware than that, and that they would support a Bond who is unique, who is truer to his roots of the sophisticated, tough-but-lovable super guy. :cake:

John Cleese said that, which didnt make much sense since the Bond movies he was in had a much more run and gun style and higher bodycount than Craig's movies.

Brosnan probably has a higher body count (to date...) but I still think Craig has too much of a cavalier attitude about killing. Fleming's Bond never did it in cold blood (except maybe Blofeld) but M's description of Craig having an "over developed trigger finger" is the gospel truth.

Connery killed in cold blood several times. Its not a trait exclusive to Craig. He seems more tortured by it than any other Bond. One of the reasons I dislike hi..

His killing of Prof. Dent in Dr. No is probably a cold blood contender as are Moore's of Stromberg and Locque.

Yes, and it was so controversial at the time that it's hard to think of another killing from Connery's era that wasn't purely in self-defence.

The Bulgarian in FRWL. Although Bond was merely an accessory to that homicide.

Well, Krilencu did lead the men to kill innocent Gypsy's, shot Kerim in the arm and was an operative of SPECTRE. A fair enough warrant for elimination if you ask me.

Moore himself objected to Bond pushing Loqcue's car, but John Glen insisted on the scene. Personally I'm glad Bond killed him, Locque so had it coming to him! I think Craig's killing of that guy in Prague at the start of Casino Royale is similar to Connery's of Dent. Only Craig was way more smug about it (who'd a thunk it!).

Well, not a Bond fan, no. But I'd marry a woman who's into classic shows like The Persuaders. Lol!
