TWINE,in many ways seems to relate to OHMSS.The most obvious thing is of course, the title of the movie which comes directly from OHMSS.The movie opens with Bond in a Swiss banker office which actually happened in OHMSS as well.We have a ski chase with Bond and the girl which again was in OHMSS.Both movies spend one portion to devolp a relation between Bond and woman that is more genuine than usual. Not to mention how Elektra wears similar outfit as Tracy when skiing and there are made some parallels between two characters. Both Tracy and Elektra could be described in a Fleming way-"a bird with a wing down."Elektra was taken as a hostage and that of course left her with a trauma.Even as we later find out that she is actually "the big bad" that statement still holds. Her motivation for the whole thing is because her father didn't pay the ransom.More so,the chemistry between Pierce and Sophie is wonderful. So,after this whole thing, why on earth throw such unnecessary character into the story?People give Richards a flack because she was BAD(like really bad) and that was the problem-the first problem is that there even was another that character. There is absolutely no need for any other Bond girl in this movie other than Elektra because this thing between Bond and Elektra should have been "real" to put it with Michael Apted's words...firstly,he relates to the movie in which Bond actually marries but then he throws another Bond girl into the story just because Bond can have somebody to share a bed with in the end...how much of a contrast is that?Seriously,he basically buried the best thing about this movie-the relationship between Bond and Elektra. The irony is he threw the character in and hired Richards who was "hot thing" especially with teenage boys for about five seconds just because...teenage boys had hots for Richards at that moment so he must have though the sales would go hire(for how much :?: seriouslythis is a Bond movie not a trash tv movie in which you hire actresses like Richards in hope to attract some male audiance). But reviews went down because of it.A shame, because for my money this could have been called as one of the best Bond movies ever without Christmas Jones.

If Christmas Jones were renamed something more dignified, dressed more professionally to suit her occupation as a Nuclear Physicist, and played by a BETTER actress who could actually sell the brains and beauty combination, dumping the character to "improve" TWINE wouldn't be an option. Especially if the role was recast with Dina Meyer, who would've sold the Super-Educated, Hard-Working Professional Scientist role instead of the trashy T&A-pandering of Denise Richards. Now how much better would THAT have been?

There would still be the fact that there is absolutely no need or room for another Bond girl.

But,you know, now I can see why there may be more reasons to call TND better than TWINE than I first thought.TND doesn't fail in what it wants to be-a Bond movie.Sure,it's not the greatest ever but it has a good plot and really well-shot action scenes and of course, some brilliant moments. And the soundtrack. And we see Bond in his commander suit! :britflag: I still hold the opinion that they should've made it more "intriguing spy game" than "action" as they did at the end but okay...the production was in a mess and and the script was changing constantly.
TWINE,sadly, kinda fails in what it wants to be.A movie with more emotional edge and more character-driven story. They did A-class job with Elektra's character. And,yes there are some wonderful character moments and the chemistry between two main leads is wonderful! But Christ,if you want to make something more "important" with more emotions and if you wanna make it even tragic at the end..why the hell throw in a nuclear scientist who wanders around in a tank top and hot pants showing off her tatoos?Oh,and don't forget the name-to which you will make a joke at the end.And hire Denise Richards to do it.The result is catastrophic.I mean, the movie seems to have some paralells with OHMSS-the movie,in which as we all know,Bond married. The swiss banker office,Elektra even says a very similar line in the same place as Tracy-CASINO!
In both scenes Bond seems like he wants to protect the lady."Please, stay alive,at least for tonight.",Lazenby pleads in OHMSS.

"You are determinated to protect me,aren't you Mr.Bond?" "Perhaps from yourself." Make a wonderful love scene were you can really feel like Bond isn't only messing this time.Yup,they all did.Even Babs said how:"Bond thinks he's found another Tracy-but in fact he found Blofeld." I mean, brilliant.DO IT!You have everything necessary-a great female character,a great Bond,a great chemistry...but nooooo...Bond needs to get with someone into bed at the end of the movie-it doesn't matter if that harms the whole credibility of a storyline! _.///
at the end(which is totally Roger Moore) you get the feeling that you watched one of those instalments-not the movie in which Bond had to kill the woman he got close to,the woman who was close to M,the woman who was trapped with a terrorist because M said they don't negotiate with terrorists. The woman who was a daughter of M's close friend...no that's all shown in 5 seconds-and the scene is terrific.it's stunning.Look at M's face. It's really really great. But at the end-no one seems to know who Elektra is anymore.Bond is drinking champagne with...I don't wanna say her name and M doesn't seem to be too affected either. No one gives a thought that Elektra was a much as a victim as she was a villian.her behaviour was a production of what she went through. If someone offered her some help she might not become what she did.

At the beggining there is this scene with Robert King.Bond retrieves his money-5 million pounds.Robert seems overly happy about it it's like he saved his life-but he's a billionare!5 millions should be noting to him.I don't know,Sir King in those 10 seconds didn't strike me as the guy who was overly thinking about his daughter. But maybe that's just me.TND got the job done.It wanted to be a Bond movie-and it was.I don't think they really wanted to make movie that was better than GoldenEye.They just wanted to make another Bond movie as soon as possible because of great success of GE.TWINE started the whole storyline terrifically but finished it on a completely wrong foot.

Barry are you serious? You say how you've been dismissive of someone's character yet you never met the person in live? Oh and all these politically neutral expressions.. you won't like what I'm going to say now but you sound like a sleazy "wall street" prick. Don't you think it would be boring if all the people had the same opinions and the same tastes? Yeah it would be.. you don't like Brosnan for whatever reason and other people do not just me... I see nothing wrong if I comment or something or express my opinion... it's what forum is for... so I think you and I will both agree that we disagree and just stop talking about those things we disagree on-all right? In the future if you don't like my comment then just ignore it... if you don't like it ignore it.. why bother with something you don't like?

Don't fight on the forum kids.

Veronica is obviously a little bit in love with Brosnan, and that's ok too.

TWINE had so many potential and had some twist in the formula without losing it, so i think it's superior. If they didn't have Xmas, it would've been perfect.
Although remote control BMW is still the most awesome gadget scene imo.

Agreed. Xmas is so out of place in that movie...
And I don't think you can even call it a character. More of an after-thought really.
Oh,yeah...the remote control BMW is awesome. But those glasses in the opening scene in twine are cool as well.
