Bowie as Zorin
Bowie was also asked to play the villain Max Zorin in the James Bond film A View to a Kill (1985), but turned down the role, stating that "I didn't want to spend five months watching my stunt double fall off mountains."[76]

Re: Bowie as Zorin
I think he would have made an excellent villain. But not that one.

David Bowie in his prime as a Bond villain? What a missed opportunity.
Re: Bowie as Zorin
It's a shame he never got to do a Bond theme either.

Re: Bowie as Zorin
There's still time for both.
He'd make a great villain in a future Bond film. I like him as an actor, it was only recently that I discovered that he actually can act, and is not just a singer who decided he'd like a change.
Why not have him play the villain and perform the title song?
Two birds, one stone.
I also believe he could've been a very interesting Max Zorin. I love Chris Walken, but David Bowie also has that crazy thing going on aswell.
Maybe a missed op, but it doesn't have to be. We have time.

Re: Bowie as Zorin
Which previous villain would he have been good as?

Love the idea of Bowie doing the theme *and* playing a villain. Like I said, I'm a big Bowie fan so it'd be a double treat for me!Captain Nash wrote:There's still time for both.

Re: Bowie as Zorin
Then again, if even Christopher Walken couldn't bring Zorin to life, then Bowie probably wouldn't have been able to either.

Re: Bowie as Zorin
I love Christopher Walken, but he is darn near wooden in a lot of his roles. Then he has a role(albeit a small one) in something like Pulp Fiction where he is very memorable-iconic, even.

Re: Bowie as Zorin
Bowie as Zorin? Christopher Walken did well as Zorin unfortunately by A View To A Kill Roger Moore's time as Bond was running out of steam Bowie made the right decision. Not a chance in hell his being Zorin would have make View To A Kill a better movie although he is a great choice for a nemesis and singer.
Of the artists on my wish list Bowie is right up there. Michale Jackson at the apex of his popularity was another. Thinking about the singers missed out on is almost akin to wondering what if Steven Spielberg had gotten his chance to direct Bond.

Indeed, very little could have helped AVTAK. It's one of the Bond films that once the titles are done(LOVE the theme song!) I change the channel.Kokopelli wrote:Bowie as Zorin? If he had of taken the role, then Bowie could've had an interesting take on the character of Max Zorin.

Re: Bowie as Zorin
It's too bad Bowie has been rather quiet as of late. It'd be cool to see him do more movies, though I'm not crazy about the music he's done recently(Personally, I like the 70's-early 80's Bowie.)
