Any views? It has to be up there. The Captain's review of this tripe will arrive eventually.

Dud Another Day is the worst, with AVTAK a close second(its only saving grace is the theme)

I haven't seen the film, and don't plan on doing so. But based on all of the reviews, and by what I've heard, I would have to say that it must easily be the worst Bond film ever.
The worst Bond film that I've ever seen (and I've seen all of the first 21 official Bond films, and also Never Say Never Again) is Casino Royale, easily the worst, in fact.

I will holding off voting until I see it. I'm not in hurry to see it either. The word on the street is that it is bad enough to deserve this award.

Both films are far more enjoyable to watch than CR.katied wrote:Dud Another Day is the worst, with AVTAK a close second(its only saving grace is the theme)

Eh,I've sat through both films before, when I was a) in a masochistic mood and b)had a lot of time on my hands

I have to go with the fallen Jedi on this. DAD may not be the best Bond film ever produce but it is a ways away from the worst. As I said before Cubby would be proud of DAD.Skywalker wrote:Both films are far more enjoyable to watch than CR.katied wrote:Dud Another Day is the worst, with AVTAK a close second(its only saving grace is the theme)

Maybe I'll get DAD from Netflix and give it another chance..trying to watch it on Spike is an exercise in futility, what with how they edit it and all the ads.

The first half of DAD was great, but unfortunately they mostly ruined the second half, IMO. I don't consider AVTAK to have been nearly as bad as a lot of people think it was.
I haven't seen QOS, so based on the first 21 official Bond films, I would say the worst two were...
#1. Easily Casino Royale
#2 Diamonds Are Forever (although it was still light-years better than Casino Royale)

Since I know the movie Die Another Day inside and out, I sometimes watch it up until the first scene that takes place at the ice-castle, and then I turn it off.katied wrote:Maybe I'll get DAD from Netflix and give it another chance..trying to watch it on Spike is an exercise in futility, what with how they edit it and all the ads.
But at least I will gladly watch the first half of it. Whereas I watched Casino Royale once, and have never felt any desire to watch it a second time.
Re: Is Quantum Of Solace the worst ever James Bond film?
I've tried to watch CR a few times..I bought the DVD but I think I've watched it maybe twice since I bought it.I wonder if some of that is due to the length of it.

As opposed as I was/am to Daniel Craig being the new "Bond," and as opposed as I was/am to the "reboot," I still tried to enjoy CR when I sat down to watch it for the first time. By the middle of the film I had become so bored with it that I started doing other things around the house while it continued to play.katied wrote:I've tried to watch CR a few times..I bought the DVD but I think I've watched it maybe twice since I bought it.I wonder if some of that is due to the length of it.
I NEVER would have done that with any previous Bond film.
I own all of the first 20 Bond films on DVD, and have watched every last one of those at least 20 times each. Some of them even more than that. I had never hated a Bond film before, or found one to be boring.
Yes, CR is too long. But at the same time I've sat through MUCH LONGER movies than that that kept my interest the entire time, and that I would gladly watch again. The problem is Daniel Craig and the poor script.
My only problems with DAD were strictly in the second half of the movie, and they were with the ridiculous stuff with the invisible car, and the poor CGI. But even then, I can still watch it with some interest. I think the first half of DAD was great though.
Re: Is Quantum Of Solace the worst ever James Bond film?
There's quite a bit of CR that I would have taken out-among other things, the fight with Obanno and I would have shortened the scenes Bond's recovery time, though not omitted completely. I know there were a lot of people that would have preferred that they just jump to him all better, but respectfully, I think that is a sucky idea.

I re-watched DAD recently and in the past I have been highly critical of the film as a whole, but I have to confess to really enjoying the movie (even the invisible car). I've always enjoyed the beginning of the film and like others was irritated by the weak story and poor CGI. That said, Brosnan is on top form and DAD does boast some great iconic moments.Eye Of The Tiger wrote:My only problems with DAD were strictly in the second half of the movie, and they were with the ridiculous stuff with the invisible car, and the poor CGI. I thought Die Another Day was great fun, and it does have Miranda Frost in those white trousers.
Maybe someone could do a DAD fan edit.
A View To A Kill is also a treat with a great cast. But I can see why people - who are more demanding than me - have problems with these two entries.

Bring back Bond!

I have to agree. CR was a big, long over-stylized bore, and it was painful watching Craig pouting his way through the entire emotional range. Amazingly, they managed to make a much worse film in QOS.Skywalker wrote:Both films are far more enjoyable to watch than CR.katied wrote:Dud Another Day is the worst, with AVTAK a close second(its only saving grace is the theme)
I keep hoping that the Broccoli's have grown bored with Bond and decide to sell the property to someone with a balanced touch. I appreciate the need to keep Bond updated, but there is just nothing left of what I liked about Bond. You used to watch the films and want to be Bond, just like any other heroic character. I don't get that from Craig, so he needs to move on.
