Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I didn't realize that was pre-Skyfall.. still, though. It seems people really do run hot and cold about Daniel Craig..
Some of the stunts he's pulled-almost beating up several journalists-and fans who wanted a picture with him don't exactly endear people to him. That's what was good about Satsuki-she was a calming presence when he got like that-fortunately she always was there otherwise it could have been disastrous.
OK I get it, might not have been the best time, but hulking out over it? Overreaction, much?

The only reasonable explanation I can come up with is previously his attitude was ignored because he was painted as a suffering artiest going to great pains to bring the authors true vision of James Bond to the screen. His I'd rather kill myself than be Bond comments somehow strikes home everyone sees a pompous jackass talking flippantly and angrily about his unbelievable opportunities. I wonder if people will look back at his past statements and see the angry jackass instead of the tortured manchild who was just to sensitive, too much an artist and too good for Bond.

Ah, that poor lady. I don't doubt she saved him from ruin many times over. Got to wonder if she were still by his side if this angry (take this job and shove it) Craig would have never appeared.kater23 wrote:I didn't realize that was pre-Skyfall.. still, though. It's surprising to me that he and Rachel Weisz have lasted as long as they have..I'm sure they've had a few "moments" like I described above..wonder if she's ever called Sarsuki for advice on how to deal with DC's anger issues?

You know the old saying there is no such thing as bad publicity , maybe this is a m publicity stunt. If it is I know a lot of pissed off people who might just not go to the movie. Anecdotal but who knows how widespread the feeling is

The role of Bond came up four or five years later and I was called by Entertainment Weekly, a showbiz publication, and they said 'your old friend and collaborator Daniel Craig has been suggested as Bond, what do you think?' and I said 'terrible idea – he shouldn't do it'. For me at the time I thought Bond had become the opposite of what Daniel is – a slightly disengaged, urbane jokey eyebrow-raising, you know, a pastiche in a way, and I felt Daniel's reality and his passion and honesty as an actor would not work."
If I didn't know any better, i'd have said that line had been spoken by someone who has seen 4 or 5 Bonds, all of which were OTT, thank that all Bond film are like that.

Sadly I've looked on some sites on fb and it still seems to be can't wait for spectre..so let Me get this straight, an actor a lot seem to admire, pretty much beeps on them this week and you're pretty much saying do it again, I really hope this isn't the case, the fans on imdb for spectre seem to be pretty pissed about it, and some bond fan sites simply saying well he was exhausted, bs exhaused or not that's not how you should behave no matter how many times you've been approached, but I bet this will get a free pass and he'll be kept on, had it been any other actor as james bond who did that then the writing would've surely been on the wall for them.Omega wrote:You know the old saying there is no such thing as bad publicity , maybe this is a m publicity stunt. Yeah, the delusional people, and they're right here in the Bond fandom too. These are the rank and file useful idiots, roaming the internet, promoting "tolerance". To them, Craig is the oppressed because of his unconventional casting for the role and the big backlash that first happened to him back in 2005. So, yeah, they march onward, a conglomeration of trendies and brainwashed PC-minded gnomes and self-professed righteous humanists, fighting for dear leader. Of course, Eon and the studio bigwigs and Craig have the last laugh, seeing these types as willing propagandists for any of their BS. As we've seen, Craig himself has exposed deep disdain for the role, the series, and, by extension, the Bond fandom; but the the useful idiots still defend him. It's hilarious in a pitiful way.shaken not stirred wrote: Sadly I've looked on some sites on fb and it still seems to be can't wait for spectre..so let Me get this straight, an actor a lot seem to admire, pretty much beeps on them this week and you're pretty much saying do it again, I really hope this isn't the case, the fans on imdb for spectre seem to be pretty pissed about it, and some bond fan sites simply saying well he was exhausted, bs exhaused or not that's not how you should behave no matter how many times you've been approached, but I bet this will get a free pass and he'll be kept on, had it been any other actor as james bond who did that then the writing would've surely been on the wall for them.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I posted this in the summer. Mendes first made these comments during a lunch break BBC Radio interview at the (cricket) Lord's Ashes Test Match in July between England and Australia. He trashed the old Bond series and acted as if he was Ingmar Bergman. Along with the legendary thespian Daniel Craig he had saved that silly franchise etc. I remember him saying that he had just started to edit Spectre. In was "slowly emerging through the mists of an editing room". Pompous idiot.Veronica wrote:Come to think of it,when did Mendes say this (completely hilarious) statement? This could all be in hope to repare the situation after Craig showed just how much passion and honesty(what does that even mean? An arty snooze expression?) he has saying he would rather slash his wrist than be in another movie...

He looks extremely excited to extend the invitation #not
wouldn't be rather slash his wrists than to do this?
Daniel Craig doesn't look the least bit thrilled to be in this picture.
Don't look happy about it Daniel?!

Cr-egg:“I always had a kind of secret plan when I started doing these movies." And this was it: by starting with the “stripped-back” script of Casino Royale, I wanted to reintroduce the series’ more familiar elements gradually, in a way that would make sense in a modern-day context – and “do it in as smart a way as possible, so that they’re not obvious”.

I agree the Craig fans are showing just how codependent they are in most comment sections. "Oh he was tired, stressed, etc." It reminds me of the excuses given by battered spouses.
