The real Phelps died the day Peter Graves died. Hopefully, the Phelps played by Jon Voight turned out to bean impostor in either of the upcoming M:Is.
I wouldn't hold your breath.
I don't know enough about Mission Impossible to make a comment on Phelps as a villain - but I think FBF has mentioned it before. Maybe if I watched the films and then the tv series again I would be annoyed.

I liked Tanya - the Bond films were supposed to be fun.
Phelps being a bad guy was a turn off for me I watched the original series and thought Peter Graves was a legend. There was no reason he had to use that name and I didn't like the MI movies forgot the TV formula, it was not about a individual agent it was about the mission. The original show did a pretty good take on Casino Royale.
I think MI:4 was more of a team effort than the previous films. Possibly because Tom Cruise isn't the box office draw he once was, and I get the impression that even he senses that, despite his outsize ego and producer credit. In fact, I'm almost certain of it - how else would it have been allowed?

I saw the first one. One was enough.
IMHO The first movie was only so-so. I never got why anyone cared about it so passionately. Paul walker may have been a genuinely good guy but his acting was wooden and the plot unbelievable. A popcorn movie maybe.

MI 4 I like a lot more. I can be hopeful they'll get the shows magic sometime. Man From Uncle movie feels like they did pay attention to what made the original show so fun. Of course I wont begrudge any original series fans their opinions.

Tom Cruise was untouchable in Hollywood for a very long time, I think he finally got reality check and wants to work more than he wants to get the credit. Or at least shake the crazy label he had jumping on Oprah's couch like a made man. His recent movies are improving and MI seems like a collaboration than a I want to be James Bond too film.

Just my 2 cents.

I agree with you Dr. No. Phelps should have been a good guy and anything to the contrary desecrates his history. MI 4 was the best of the bunch so far. FBF has an excellent premise for a plot uncovering that the REAL Phelps is still alive and the MI team must find and rescue him, and restore him (Voight) back to being the head of the MI force.

About 7 years ago my friend got Tanya's autograph on her photo for $30.00 at a Chiller Theatre convention we went to. He caught her off guard and gave her a kiss on the cheek as she was signing it. She was a little embarrassed but took it in stride and was nice to us. She sat between Linda Blair and Margot Kidder that day. Kidder looked drugged out. Blair turned her back to the crowd and wolfed down a sandwich like an animal, as if she had not eaten in a month.

Peter Graves is Jim Phelps. The Phelps played by Voight is happened to be an impostor who killed the real Phelps (Graves) and steals his identity, thus leading to the IMF to believe the veteran spy to have a plastic surgery due to an accident during the mission.

Guys,do you feel that Lea Seydoux is little bit of a weird choice for a Bond girl?I think she is a great actress and and has that particular french charm but quite honestly I can't imagine her fitting a bill of a woman Bond just hits and then quits... unless we are going to get another Vesper.

She was good in MI:4. If I'm thinking of the right lady. I can see how she might work in Bond, still a direct hire from other franchises smacks of 'we are out of ideas'.

looks like the same tame car chases they've been doing.

Problem with most of their car chases is they look too polished too professional

Looks like its a video game

So they made 8 cars just for this movie but the script is a mess..wonderful. the worse the better. Hoping Craig will leave after this one. It would be in order. Because every actor went with the movie that wasn't really good. Diamonds are forever,A View to a kill,DAD...

Deadline.com:After launching in 44 markets with $200.2M, Walt Disney’s Marvel Avengers: Age of Ultron is setting foot in the states. Conservative estimates see the film doing safely $200M at the domestic B.O. at a total of 4,247 engagements, but industry estimates see the Marvel superhero team film easily kicking the first Avengers, which owns the highest domestic opening of all-time at $207.4M, aside with a bow of $210M-$230M. Note that $230M is a very aggressive estimate..............Forbers.com:Marvel and Walt Disney's Avengers: Age Of Ultron exploded out of the gate on Thursday, with $27.6 million in grosses from shows starting last night at 7:00pm. That’s the biggest Marvel movie preview debut ever, well-ahead of The Avengers ($18.7m). The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been around long enough that we can make reasonable predictions about the opening weekend take just from the Thursday night box office. When Walt Disney reports that Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron earned $27.6 million on its advance-night Thursday showings in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D, it means that, under normal circumstances, we’re looking at what amounts to 9-12% of its opening weekend. So just running those numbers, we’re looking at a debut weekend of $230m-$306m. So does that mean we’re looking at the first $300m debut weekend?

She did her best with Skyfall.. I don't think she could surpass that miracle. "Best Bond ever"...yeah,right. Btw I heard Sony payed Craig sex millions just to use their phone in the film... I wonder if this one is going to be dubbed in a theme of "Buy another day"

UPDATE, 1:22 PM: Industry box office estimates see Disney/Marvel’s The Avengers: Age Of Ultron on track for an $87M opening Friday at the domestic B.O. in 4,275 theaters, inclusive of yesterday’s $27.6M receipts. That would make Ultron the second-highest opening day of all time behind Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part II, which made $91.07M on its first Friday (on its way to a $169.2M weekend). An $87M first Friday for Ultron also pegs it ahead of the first Avengers movie which made $80.8M. The industry estimate for Ultron‘s opening weekend is currently $213M, which of course would make it an all-time stateside record, beating Avengers’ $207.4M. Aggressive estimates see $215M-$220M. Again, these figures become harder as cash drawers close out into the evening.
