From this article:

"The storytelling wasn’t there. And that’s the abject lesson: going to start a movie without a script, it’s just… not a good idea."

Such a bad idea they went ahead and did it three more times!

"F---ing nightmare. Paul Haggis did a pass on the script, then he went off and joined a picket line, and we didn’t have writers, so we didn’t have a script. We probably should never have gone and started production, but we did." — Daniel Cr-egg
"I ended up writing a lot of that film — I probably shouldn’t really say, and I do not want a credit, it’s fine — but we were in that state because that’s what we’re allowed to do. I was allowed to work."

Daniel Craig Says “Construct Of Masculinity” Was Among His “Biggest Reservations” About Playing James Bond

Daniel Craig has not bought into the societal conception of masculinity, something he noted was among his “biggest reservations” about portraying MI6 secret agent James Bond in five films across 15 years.

“I would say one of my biggest reservations about playing [Bond] would be the construct of masculinity,” he told The New Yorker in a recent Q&A while promoting the limited U.S. theatrical release of Luca Guadagnino’s Queer. “It was often very laughable, but you can’t mock it and expect it to work. You have to buy into it.”
Construct Of masculinity? What is this berk on about? Still acting as if the Bond role was beneath him although more than happy to take that bag of cash from Eon.

And did so for nearly two decades, so it didn't sting him too bad.

He proves himself unworthy of the role day by day. The guy is a loser who Broccoli made rich and a lot of the newbie Bond fans of this generation bought into, most who never even watched the prior films from its inception. He defines how bad Hollywood has become and how unpopular they are viewed by the public, as is evident by the horrific ratings of ALL of the awards shows every year. The lead actress Ariana Grande of Wicked is on video saying she 'hates America, and all Americans', while licking donuts in a bakery and yet young people and girls mostly go see her film. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJBSZE1ie-Y

Speaking to The Sunday Times about the role, Cr-egg said: “Early on with Bond, I thought I had to do other work, but I didn’t.

“I was becoming a star, whatever that means, and people wanted me in their films. Incredible.

“Most actors are out of work for large chunks, so you take your job offers — but they left me empty.

“Then, bottom line, I got paid. I was so exhausted at the end of a Bond it would take me six months to recover emotionally.

“I always had the attitude that life must come first and, when work came first for a while, it strung me out.” The actor said: “I keep saying I don’t (care), because people ask me all the time and I’m an ornery, grumpy old man, so I say I don’t give a s**t.

“But I care about it deeply — deeply. I care what the franchise does, because I love Barbara (Broccoli) and Michael (G Wilson, the producers). But it’s not my decision or problem. I wish them luck.”

Daniel Cr-egg’s new film sees him take on the role of gay William Lee in Luca Guadagnino’s Queer, based on a semi-autobiographical novella by William S Burroughs, but the former James Bond star has shared he would never have considered taking the role during his time at the helm of the 007 franchise.

He told The Times of London:

“I couldn’t have done this while doing Bond. It would look reactionary, like I was showing my range,” and he said he wasn’t interested in the prospect of taking fans of Bond through to a different depiction of masculinity:

“It’s just not a conversation I wanted. I had it all the way through Bond anyway. Could there be this Bond? That Bond? So anything that is going to inflame that conversation? No — life’s too short.”

Fair play to him, he's not wrong. Just too bad he or at least someone at EON infused it anyway with the depiction of Bond from Skyfall onwards.

Daniel Cr-egg reflected on his more than 30-year career during a conversation at the BFI in London on Monday night, including his time as James Bond. Though he said he “loved every second” of playing 007, he admitted that the level of fame was “emotionally difficult” not only for him but for his family.

When asked by film critic Mark Kermode if he enjoyed playing Bond, Cr-egg replied: “I did. I loved every second of it. I mean, some of it was tough and weird and strange and emotionally kind of difficult for everybody, including my family. The fame is weird.” Image Cr-egg is doing more talking about the Bond franchise than EON is and he has been out of the role for 3 years now!

Latest odds on Ladbrokes. I have no idea who Lucien Laviscount is. Mescal is only there because Gladiator II just came out. Most people said he had no charisma in the film.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson - Evens
Paul Mescal - 2/1
Theo James - 7/2
Jack Lowden - 7/1
James Norton - 8/1
Lucien Laviscount - 8/1
Callum Turner - 9/1
Henry Cavill - 10/1

There doesn't seem to be much point in having odds on actors when they take ten years to make a film.

In the article above Barbara craps on Amazon through leaks in Murdoch's WSJ. Was her Uber melo drama death of James a preemptive middle finger to Bezos or just incompetence? I say both! Merry Christmas to all.

Pretty much confirms every suspicion I've had since Amazon took over MGM.

As I've said before, despite all our many and legitimate misgivings towards Babz and EON these past 20 years, simply replacing her isn't the answer, because for all he missteps, she still has some reverence for the character. What that actually is, is hard to imagine, but it's there. The nameless, faceless drones at Amazon definitely don't have any at all.

The family that controls the James Bond movie franchise reportedly refuses to give Amazon the go-ahead to make another film due to serious disagreements over the direction of the series — including one proposal for a TV spinoff centered on a female 007. Barbara Broccoli — the 64-year-old daughter of the late Queens native Albert “Cubby” Broccoli, the film producer who acquired the rights to the famed spy created by British novelist Ian Fleming — has been at odds with Amazon execs ever since the e-retail giant acquired Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studio for $8.5 billion in March 2022, according to the Wall Street Journal. Her dissatisfaction with Amazon has reached the point where she is willing to hold the film “hostage” and delay the release of a new Bond sequel, the Journal reported.

“These people are f–king idiots,” Broccoli reportedly told friends when describing executives at Amazon.........Broccoli shot down the idea of a female Bond, though she’s not opposed to having a gay or nonwhite actor star in the role, according to the Journal. She does insist that whoever fills his shoes is a Brit........Mike Hopkins, who heads the Prime Video business, has reportedly told associates he is confident he can win Broccoli’s trust...........so now she is attempting to come across as the guardian of the franchise when she has done so much to ruin it. She feels slighted by the executives because she is accustomed to being in charge and that is no longer the case.
