It was a mystery to everybody. Cubby thought the line was hilarious, and insisted that it be kept in, even though the general response was "huh?"

I remember it meant do thing to cubby . Supposedly going back to his (alleged) mafia days where somebody begged for their life promising a stainless steel delicatessen.
Still dropping a handy capable person down as chimney was kind of weird without trying to beg for their life. (Probably one more cold blooded Roger Moore scenes. Great helicopter flying stunts from Vietnam vets as well.)
Maybe the whole picture was about “we can do a deal! We can do a deal!”
Hate to tell the fan boys, Babs is like “meh” , everything or nothing.

I dunno, if I'd witnessed someone begging for their life, I probably wouldn't find it very funny. It is quite a weird scene, especially as "man in wheelchair" wasn't officially identified as Blofeld until years later (though it was pretty obvious who it was meant to be). What could have been a powerful dramatic moment, with Bond finally avenging the death of his wife, is played for laughs. Everybody talks about he slide whistle in TMWTGG, but the use of slide whistle as Blofeld is dropped down the chimney is far worse, IMO.

I'm watching The Gentlemen on Netflix and think Theo James could be a decent Bond.

Don't agree with Pierce on this one. Cillian is a good actor, but I don't see him as Bond.

Brosnan was asked directly if he thinks Cillian would make a good Bond. Realistically, "absolutely, yes" is the only answer for that kind of situation.

I didn't see the Oscars, but it'll be interesting to see if the ploys they used to reverse the decline in ratings (starting it an hour earlier, having an undoubted hit movie sweep the board, bringing in Ryan Gosling to perform I'm Just Ken) have any effect.

D'avine Joy Randolph won for the best supporting actress and said this: “When I said I don't see myself, you said that's fine, we're going to forge our own path.” She thanked many of these women by name onstage, including producers Colleen Camp and Barbara Broccoli and agents Tracy Brennan and Sarah Fargo. ......this is the recognition that Bond affords Broccoli and she eats it up.

Seriously though..NOT funny,(among other things)

EDITED TO ADD:obviously ABC doesn’t give a *poop emoji* about ratings and the like.

EDITED TO ADD 2:if he(Kimmel) continues to be host I guarantee you celebs will..not not show up..but speak up.I hope.

I'm sure ABC does care about ratings, but they're probably not that worried. Even the lowest-rated Oscars ceremony (2021, IIRC) still dwarfs pretty much everything else on TV, except the Superb Owl and maybe a couple of other events.

Image The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes saga leading up to Wrestlemania is more entertaining than the Oscars.
