It's funny, that image is kind of a Rorschach test. Everybody who replied saw a different actor in there. Personally, I saw quite a lot of Craig, but Craig if he'd made an effort to look the part.

I just watched a rerun from 1983 with Sean Connery promoting NSNA on The Tonight Show. Carson asked him a trivia question: "who was the first Bond villain?" (right answer was Peter Lorre as Le Chiffre).... Connery paused and then said, "CUBBY BROCCOLI" and the audience laughed. He then said, "just kidding". Carson responded, "NO you're not". You can see in 1983 the disdain Connery still had for Broccoli for whatever reason.

Christopher Nolan reportedly wants to direct multiple James Bond films in a period setting. According to sources at World Of Reel, the director is said to be in talks with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli to direct the next “two or three” films in the franchise. While it’s claimed that Nolan is on board “in principle”, he apparently has some stipulations regarding his creative freedom and the direction he wants to take the franchise. According to the report, Nolan wants to make faithful adaptations of the original Ian Fleming novels “in period settings”. The original books, which began with 1953’s Casino Royale, were set in the 1950s and early 1960s. EON Productions, however, reportedly wants to make a “full reboot for the modern era”.

I don't think it's EON who are talking out of their backsides. This rumour just sounds like they've taken two fanwank wishlist items (Nolan to direct, and period adaptations of the novels) and mashed them together.

I'm in the same boat, I put about as much faith in these rumors as I do the infamous "Bookie's Odds" articles. Which is to say none at all.

October 5th was James Bond Day in honor of the 1962 premiere of Dr. No. Origin of the name: While the “Bond, James Bond” line is enshrined in cinematic history since that early scene in Dr. No, the true origin of the name itself is a bit more mundane than you’d imagine. For the ultimate secret agent, Fleming wanted a truly unimpressive name. Looking through a birdwatching book, he found the inspiration he was hoping for. The American ornithologist Dr. James Bond. Dr. Bond actually quite liked his espionage namesake. Although he didn’t find out about it until years after Fleming wrote the first book, he met and became friends with the writer on a 1964 trip to Jamaica. Throughout the Bond films, there have been many small references to ornithology, including it being the profession Pierce Brosnan uses to introduce himself to Jinx (Halle Berry) in Die Another Day.
