I believe Cubby already knew Grant by that point and had given the thought of casting him as Bond but knew that Grant would only do one picture since he wasn't really interested in doing sequels.007 wrote:They did talk to him about Dr No apparently. North By Northwest was a "Bond film" before Bond films existed, so-to-speak.
