Speaking of the(predominantly) make demographic of the Bond fandom..I blogged about the problems being a woman in a male fandom.

Funny, I remember reading an article about the feminizing of the Bond franchise shortly after CR came out that concluded by saying that male Bond fans have to accept that "Bond films aren't being made for you any more". Wish I could find it again, so I could repost it.

Really? That is just laughable, especially considering how brutally man-oriented the Craig movies were. If anything, the Brosnan or Moore movies were more female-oriented, heck even the Connery ones. But the Craig ones are by far the least female-public friendly of all. I think I'm so used to being the only woman because I grew up with three brothers, and being a sports reporter, well you can imagine The writing for TV environment is very different in this sense, it's much more neutral, there are both men and women. But, having spent all my life so far in predominantly male environments, I think I don't even feel the "pressure" anymore Yet, with the Bond fandom the predominance is so marked that sometimes I do feel like I'm the minority... just for that brief sec.

The films might be feminized, but(and I can't tell 100% for sure), a large percentage of the Bond fandom is, indeed male.

Well, the swimsuit scene was clearly aimed at a female (and gay male) audience, and this insistence on exploring Bond's feelings is surely an attempt to make the films more female-friendly.

Too bad the "exploring Bond's feelings" comes with movies that are far more violent and far less charming and witty than the previous ones. If they want to wink at women then they need the classic Bond, not this Rambo type, bathing suit or not (lol yes aimed at female and gay male public). The Craig movies have been way less female-friendly than the Brosnan ones. Heck, even the Dalton ones were more female-friendly... much better clothes for the girls, girls with a much more "girly" yet significant role (hello Pam Bouvier!), and Bond still being a gentleman and a stylish badass... not Rambo meets Supermario

I have always seen Bond films as having something for everyone. Maybe that is why they are so successful.

I look at a film like Thunderball and I think that it is a serves as a good example for my notion. It has beautiful women (for people who like women), exotic locations, exciting action sequences, and neat gadgets. There are bound to be scores of people who like at least one of those elements.

Plus, it has a shirtless Sean Connery running around The Bahamas for two hours. Therefore, Thunderball must certainly qualify for the "female friendly" label. But I guess that is for people like katied and Ale to decide.

He had the best duo in my opinion with Carey Lowell and Talisa Soto. Pam Bouvier and Honey Rider remain by far my favourite Bond girls. I think Pierce also got a very good duo with Famke Janssen and the Natalia girl... too bad Natalia wasn't up to par with Pam Bouvier or it would have been tied with Timothy. And in the name of this, I just rewatched LTK. It may be because it was the first Bond movie I saw at the movies "alone" with my friend Silvia (that means without parents LOL.. I think I just aged myself LOL) but I have a very special relationship with LTK. I truly enjoy it. Well, other than that horrible shark thing which disgusts and horrifies me... Had they been just a LITTLE bit lighter on the violence in that one, which at times is really crude, it would have been absolutely perfect IMO. Timothy is so swoon-worthy when he looks at Pam Bouvier. I LAUGH every time I see that scene inside the enemy's ferry, when she takes off those worker clothes and reveals that REALLY nice, nude color bodysuit (it looks like it's Wolford/Eres/La Perla Studio, I need to get info on that one), and he is pulling the rope with the stuff Q unloaded and he's all "dammit, I need to pull. Crikey, that's hot" Dalton's expression is priceless. I love Pam Bouvier's dresses. Sexy and classy. The black one Lupe has and the white one too are pretty d**n nice too. Those really were the days. REAL Bond girls who weren't just pieces of meat.. they were sexy but always gorgeous AND CLASSY, even when they were the boss's girl. Sigh. Also, made me miss my James Bond even more... I'm sorry there is NO WAY I will ever even think of James Bond when Daniel Craig is on screen. Barbara Broccoli truly is an idiot. I'm guessing Cavill got until the final fitting vs Craig because ALL others wanted Cavill. But when it came to final decision, she got her own way.

I completely agree on Bond films having something for everyone. That's exactly one of the many problems with the Craig ones, as they definitely do NOT have something for everyone. The last two Bond girls were forgettable at best, and I hated Eva Green as Vesper, but that's just me so fine, it can just be my perception. Other than that, there are two entire compartments missing: the style one and the wit one. Gone, completely. And no, nobody even try and tell me that Craig's Bond has style. He looks like Rambo. Or like a blue collar trying hard to be stylish. Result? Zero style. And being a woman, Italian and obsessed with fashion I have a very clear idea and perception of "stylish" The wit, well... what is it? LOL Don't even get me started on how they dressed the Bond girls in QoS. And I didn't like Vesper's style one bit either. It was way too baroque. Bond girl is supposed to have a modern and "timeless" style at the same time, which means definitely avoid baroque touches and stick with clean cut and sexy without overdoing it. The dresses Pam Bouvier and Lupe wear in LTK can definitely be worn nowadays and look great. Both that sequin and that turquoise/blue dress Pam wears in the movie are definitely very much in line with evening dresses for this season... or last. Because they have that modern yet timeless style that a Bond girl should have.

If I think about that horrid, creased Burberry trench they put on whatshername (LOL I refuse to remember) I just cringe.

Agreed on Thunderball. Probably one of the most female-friendly ones. I actually think Connery's ones in general, despite the "macho" concept and the era, are all pretty female-friendly. I love Dr No because of the style and locations, and I also love Goldfinger. And From Russia With Love. I think they really did have something for everyone. Sigh, I want James Bond back. GIVE ME HENRY CAVILL AS BOND!! NOW!!!

On the downside, Thunderball did have that scene at Shrublands with the nurse, which I find rather uncomfortable to watch. It makes him look more like a sexual predator than a seductive charmer.

Have you read my Risico plot synopsis over in the Fan Fiction subforum? It is set in Italy and tries to make a couse correction in the style department, though I'm sure you could suggest further improvements, as well as correcting any areas in which I've got Italian geography and culture wrong.

I just saw Harry Potter 7 for the 2nd time. Before the showing of the movie, Cowboys and Aliens trailer was shown, and some people were laughing at the end because of the title. Plus, one of the guys sitting close to me said the title was rather lame.

I watched the trailer a while back and think "cowboys and Aliens" looks really bad,I feel if they could of thrown in a few Dinosaurs into the mix they would to make it perfect for their 9yr old audiance. But there is another movie with a spaceman,Cowboy & Dinosaur TOY STORY so is Craig now playing Woody.

In other news, I just bumped into this Sam Worthington thing:

"Clash of the Titans" star Sam Worthington promises that the proposed sequel to his 2010 film would be much better. Dropping a few f-bombs in the process, Worthington admits his acting left a lot to be desired and that fans were rightfully disappointed by the big-budget remake. [Moviefone]

Uh... I wouldn't exactly say someone with this behaviour and this type of bad acting performance is the right material to be Bond.

Tron was good, Wild is going to be a star. She has my vote for Catwoman when they bring her back in Batman.

The CvA movie looks lame, seeing Craig there essentially mute and dirty I thought how did this guy ever get hired as Bond. He looked like s**t. The gag at the end with the gadget gun on his wrist turned me off, nothing got me interested in seeing this. Not showing the space ships was a mistake (and trying to play Craig up as someone interesting). I actually want his movie to too well enough to get Craig back for CvA2 I don't think it going to do much of beside one weekend then be forgotten about. RDJ in this movie as he was supposed to be would be interesting because we all know RDJ will do something crazy to make it worth buying the ticket.

Yeah, Craig is a cusser, for sure. Even a few of the Craig fans on here don't like it. It makes him come off as really classless, IMO.
