I'd rather pay $10 to see Harry Potter. Granted, I haven't seen all the movies, and am not a mega-fan.

Potter broke all Potter records and took in $104 million the first day worldwide! Do I hear $1 billion?

It's not the first time that has happened, with regard to the HP movies.
The Potter films have knocked Bond of the number 1 spot before. I think during the Brosnan era, or probably inbetween.
So it's nothing new to EON.
The Harry Potter movies have mass appeal, are entertaining, and well made. There's no reason why they shouldn't make alot of money.
But should Bond be worried?
Not really, a different kind of film, younger audience. You can't compare the two.
That's true in a sense. I love Bond but have no interest whatsoever in Harry Potter.
Didn't the first Harry Potter come out at the same time as Die Another Day? Or am I going crackers.
Bring back Bond!

Harry Potter came out in November '01, Die Another Day came out just about a year later.

And how did they both compare at the BO?

You are thinking of Chamber of Secrets 11-15-02.DAD came out the next weekend and knocked Potter off the top.Considering how big Potter is Pierce did damned good.He went up against several Hollywood juggernauts and preformed strongly. What's Craig gone up against?Madagascar?Happy Feet?

It's nice to go to a film you enjoy. Good thing this film did not go up against QOJUNK last November or Eon would have made a lot less than they did ripping off the public with this imitation Bond trash with Craig.

At least the Harry Potter franchise isn't run by a megalomanic woman who wants to destroy the memory of her father!

Wasn't this the very first Potter film though, when the franchise had yet to establish itself?

And are you saying Craig's Bond films have NOT performed strongly at the BO, compared to Brozza's.....?

Disney, and aall the other companies that do kiddie films are probably already trying to come out with something to put out around the same time as Bond 23[/sarcasm]

Harry Potter was famous before the movie series started so I think it would have been well known.

Where did you pull that out of?Never mind I already know.Craig has yet to hold his own against real competition. The most notable aspect of his movies are how empty the field is of competition. It would have been different if the Half Blood Prince had opened when it was supposed to.

Chamber of Secrets is the second Harry Potter movie. The franchise was established long before with the books. If you want to stick to movies the first movie has to be credited as firmly establishing the franchise.

Will Potter 6 top QOS in the UK? I think so. What do the UK'ers think? Also, IMDB is rumoring Bond 23 will be released in 2011 with someone named Sheen playing Blofeld. How original for Craig's vision? Also, The Invasion, Flashbacks of A Fool and Defiance COMBINED grossed $87 million WORLDWIDE  with Craig as a post Bond entity. QOS underperformed in box office and critical acclaim as well. What does Broccoli do? She brings Craighead to Broadway to try to bolster his image by pairing him up with a world class act and the man who should be Bond, Jackman. Absolute lunacy :!:

IIRC Flashbacks was in *one* movie theater in the States and was gone within a few days. I don't remember any particularly positive reviews of The Invasion.

I'd be amazed if the Sheen/Blofeld thing isn't cobblers. As far as I know Eon don't even have the rights to use Blofeld (Kevin McClory) and it would be beneath Sheen, with all the critical praise he's recieved of late, to pitch up as a villain in a Barbara Broccoli James Bond film.

As I said on another thread, the "bring Dr. E..I mean Blofeld" stuff is starting to gain popularity elsehwere. And yes, the people who want to bring him back, mostly want the Dr. Evil Blofeld. It's either the Dr. Evil Blofeld or nothing for those people.

Saw Half-Blood Prince. Thumbs up. It's head to head with Prisoner of Azkaban as my favorite Potter flick.

I liked it, but I think when I see the next Harry Potter movie I'll try to avoid going to a showing with lots of parents and bratty kids! :P

Fair enough. Maybe the competition was not on a level playing field, but CR was Craig's debut. DAD was released as an established Bond after 3 other movies.

I'll ask you again. Are you saying CR was a flop??? Don't answer......because you already know what the answer is.
