Was Craig too old to play a young Bond.

Should've, could've, would've...didn't!
Maybe Brosnan could've made a fifth, and I think everyone expected him to, but circumstances changed. Maybe the shock of his departure is one of the reasons some of you guys can't accept the change.
I think that any and every Bond actor is only going to play the part for a finite period of time. as far back as Goldeneye, I kept wondering who would be next, as I do now.
the only reason I'm not willing to accept Craig, is the fact that he didn't blow me away, and that was what was needed for an actor who doesn't seem a natural choice. provided he does a better job in the next film, it's possible I could change my mind. but he will probably look too old for the part at that point.
believe me when mentioning other action films, I personally hope that if Toby Maguire does any more Spiderman films he ends it at part 4, because that character needs to look as though he's in his 20's.

True, but when Timothy Dalton was announced I recall thinking Timothy Who?
He was a big change for the role, after 7 films and twelve years of Roger Moore. But he got the job done and imo gave us one of the best Bond films in years. Infact I would go as far as to say that CR is the best Bond film since TLD. I've enjoyed LTK, GE, TND and TWINE, but they never blew me away. Although I did enjoy TND on the big screen, I thought it was a great Bond film, that in it's first half reminded me of the style of a Connery film. The latter half didn't help keep this feeling alive!

I remember when they originally announced Pierce Brosnan as Bond for TLD and being disappointed, because I absolutely hated that stupid Remington Steele show he was on. by the time I had accepted that he had the part, he didn't. then they announced Timothy Dalton, and I had no clue who he was until I realized that he was the guy who played Prince Baran in Flash Gordon. So I had to picture him without a moustache and not in green tights, not the easiest thing to do. but he had a dashing sort of persona in that film so I figured he'd be decent. I like TLD, but mainly because of Dalton, the story seemed a bit disjointed like it couldn't decide if it was to be more serious or lighter. that's why I prefer LTK, it was written to Dalton's strengths.

Humour wasn't TD's strong point. Like you said though, he still did well with the material he had written for him.

I agree that humour was not Daltons forte, but the lines "Why didn't you learn the violin?" and "Kara we're inside a Russian airbase in the middle of Afghanistan!" were well delivered and always get a good laugh. I like this kind of humour in Bond. It shouldn't be a joke fest or rely on sight gags.

I'm actually going to agree with you on this.
