Or the fact that he had to be dragged kicking and screaming into playing Bond. He seems more enthusiastic about it this time round, so hopefully his performance will reflect this by being more Connery in FRWL than Connery in YOLT.

If certain James Bond messageboards had existed back in 1964 people would be complaining about that picture being a spoiler.True!

He's enjoying the fact that it paid for his new £5 million house overlooking Regent's Park. He was earning peanuts before Bond.

Yeah, I guess it was.
Goldfinger was originally released on 17 September 1964, in the United Kingdom, and on 21 December 1964, in the States.

Interesting that they're American produced yet US had to wait quite awhile. The oddest marketing I recall is for Superman II. Released in Europe in 1980 and Americans wouldn't see it until the summer of 81. WTF was up with that? Bond is a British icon, for sure, but Superman?

But there was probably some word of mouth about Goldfinger before it came out in the States-maybe people saw it in the UK, went home and told their friends about it.

There wasn't the revealing of most of the plot in reviews of movies back then that there is now.Plus, the internet wasn't around.

Just because the internet wasn't around didn't mean the media provided such spoilers. Plus Bond was already hitting bit with Dr. No and From Russia with Love which already premiered in the US before GF's UK release. I'm sure there was a lot of talk and anticipation over GF, given it's the second biggest successful film in the series, about as big as TDK was this year.

Yes but there weren't whiners complaining about being spoiled when they "accidentally" read a thread on a messageboard with spoiler in the subject line :?

What does fans looking at spoilers and complaining have to do with the topic mainly about a chick covered in oil?

It's not, you just shoved it into the discussion passing it off as "relevant".

They were based on novels, so more or less you were bound to get spoiled.

Although I don't think she was painted in Gold, IIRC.

Stupid fan: "Ooops, I got spoiled. Why wasn't there "Spoiler?" in the subject line?"

Smart Fan: "There was,but you ignored it".

Stupid Fan:"But now I've had a plot point spoiled for me".

Smart Fan:"Well you shouldn't have clicked on it".

That sums it up pretty well
