Re: US Election 2008
I'm giving him a B-.
The stimulus package is joke (no earmarks???@@!!! ). And where is teh $1000 (each) he promised everybody? That would help the economy.
I afraid we are about to see the beginnings of a new depression and it looks like we have exactly the wrong guy in charge.
We need reform and change but adding trillions of dollars to the tab isn't helping. Giving people houses and ignoring people like me and my wife who play be the rules and keep up with our responsibilities even when times are tough is disheartening.
Funneling billion into to start new bureaucracies for medical and then funneling billions to the states for various projects is stupid. That sate and local government wasted ti every time and the number of people who get employed by the states isn't enough to lift the economy out of the ditch. The billions the car companies got didn't last long and what did we get for it? nothing. Instead of giving the money away maybe the government should have bough each of us a car from the big 3.
What has me concerned is if the gas prices once again go up it could break the back of this country.
I'm not doom and gloom, its just that i see problems that are not being addressed and that worries me because the people in charge (not Barack) are acting like they hit the lotto jackpot.
Maybe as a people we need to get past this notion of "too big to fail", it maybe only in failing that we can fix the pieces and get rid of what was wrong in the first place.

Re: US Election 2008
The Oh-bama's plans are very, very detrimental to the USA economy. He let Pelosi and Reid run the show, then he took credit for this absolutely ridiculous notion that borrowing trillions will solve all of the ills of the economy. I have not seen one CEO in jail yet, have you? They conned the share holders of their respective companies and greed was rampant. The Oh-bama 'ain't' no economical Dali Lama. 2012 awaits. I have seen enough.

Pocono Record Letter to the Editor
Blame Obama for stock market, fiscal woes
March 01, 2009
Editor, the Record:
President Obama has been in office for barely one month. Even Bill Clinton says he is helping to destroy the economy, just with his rhetoric, in only one month. Not to mention the financial damage many others expect the Obama stimulus package to do to the next generation and beyond.
Since President Obama's election, the stock market has plunged 2,000 points (An 18 percent drop. Isn't that a record for three months after a new president's election?) Since on that day last May when it was clear that Barack Obama had won the Democrats' nomination for president, the stock market has lost nearly 6,000 points. And since the democrats took over both houses of congress two years ago, the stock market has lost a whopping 7,000 points.
Now, before you "blame it on Bush," note that for two years the Democrats have had the power to stop anything they thought Bush was doing to hurt the economy, but they did not. Instead, Democrats insisted on maintaining policies they created that led directly to the current mortgage crisis, which started the freefall that got us where we are today.
So you see, elections have consequences. Those of you who voted for Democrats are getting what you asked for. The problem is, you're taking the rest of us with you.

Re: US Election 2008
I have never seen such chaos in the economy since Jimmy Carter in 1976-1980. This Oh-bama is poisoning the global markets, undermining the US economy, and has surrounded himself with political hacks and morons that make up his cabinet. Bad news until he goes.

Is there any alternative?

Britain's love affair with Obama might be over already after his chilly and bizarre treatment of Gordon Brown. He just came off as rude and a bit of a pratt.

He just proven he wasn't ready for teh job and itis beginning to look like a case of too much too soon.
i never thought Id see the day when I wished Bush was back in charge of foreign affairs. ANd that is not goign to the Hillary "Reset"button bull pucky. Bush was Vlad's best buddy. They took vacations together and now Hillary and Obama are goign to save the relationship. I'm remembering what Biden said about how we were going to attacked because the bad guys were going to test Obama, guess what he and his team have sent all the wrong signals.

Re: US Election 2008
Buffet and Welch are now turning on the Oh-bama. Why is anyone surprised? The guy is a con. He got into Harvard law school 5 years after graduating Columbia University WITHOUT honors after working 5 years as a community organizer.
You do NOT get into Harvard law school at age 26 unless someone is pulling the strings. He is a JOKE of a president and the USA voters who are STILL in love with this character may realize their mistake soon enough.

Re: US Election 2008
I don't know that they are. Of course the super-rich are going to be against Obama. They've had 8 years of a govermnent that catered exclusively to them at the expense of everyone else, and are naturally pissed off at the prospect of the other 99.9% of the population getting a slice of the pie.bjmdds wrote:Buffet and Welch are now turning on the Oh-bama. Re: US Election 2008
How will they get that slice Kris, by 'stimulus' checks in the mail even to those people who paid NO taxes? His bill has 9000 earmarks as well, which he campaigned vigorously to stop! A con job on the US public. I detest (foaming at the mouth) Chris Matthews and his sickening MSNBC crew who are nothing more than shills for the Oh-bama.

Re: US Election 2008
What stumulus checks in the mail? As I understand it, this stimulus will take the form of a small tax cut (I think I'll be getting about $35 more in each paycheck) coupled with investment in infrastructure projects designed to boost employment, mainly in the construction sector. It probably won't really be enough to stimulate anything much, but it's a baby step in the right direction after 30 years of failed Friedmanite ideology. How ironic that it should be a politician from Chicago who starts to undo the damage done by the Chicago School.

Re: US Election 2008
The Oh-No-Bama was on Leno's Tonight show. That is ridiculous in and of itself for a sitting president to 'Oprah-tize' his office. He stated he did not bowl that well in the White House scoring only a 129, which is 'SPECIAL OLYMPICS NUMBERS'.
This crumb must go. His Treasury Secretary is clueless, did not pay his taxes for 4 years, and has NO idea what he is doing. Oh-No-Bama is to the presidency as Craig is to the Bond franchise: BOTH are useless!

Re: US Election 2008
Well, unlike Craig, Obama was elected, so he ain't going anywhere until 2012.bjmdds wrote:The Oh-No-Bama was on Leno's Tonight show. Has that ever happened? Is there even a mechanism in the Constitution for such a thing? And if there is, why wasn't it used on Bush after Katrina?bjmdds wrote:2010 recall election due to incompetence?

I'm not sure he's committed any impeachable offences, unless you believe that birth certificate nonsense. Then again, I'm not exactly sure what constitutes an impeachable offence. I know that getting a blow job from an intern is one, but lying a nation into war isn't. Beyond that, I'm a bit hazy.bjmdds wrote:There should be OR impeachment.
