So, what did you think? I personally wouldn't buy a movie I hadn't seen unless it was in the bargain bins, best to rent it first.

Anyway, the last movie I saw was The Adjustment Bureau. Not quite what I was expecting, sort of like an episode of Touched By An Angel filtered through the paranoid vision of Philip K Dick (who wrote the short story on which the film is based). An interesting oddity that doesn't always hit its mark, but gets extra points from me for not being quite like anything else out there. 8/10.

I'd agree in general but I also had a gift card to use.

The problem is, the aspects of the story that make the film more interesting than a Michael Bay slugfest, the characters and world-building, are the hardest things to convey in a trailer. The "Godzilla v Transformers" angle is the hook that brings people into the cinema in the first place, so that's naturally what the trailers concentrated on.

that was the part I think turned audiences off it looked like battleship 2 only filmed at night. And like battleship they overused the transformer sound effects to sell the idea it's a bay movie clone

I like the way McKellen makes Richard seem almost likeable in places, playing him more as a charming psychopath than the usual scenery-chewing villain. (Edit: McKellen for Blofeld, anyone?)

I was browsing through the channels this afternoon and the very end of Return of the Jedi. There was something wrong with the movie print as with the ghosts of Yoda and Obi-wan was some young fellow with a mullet.

Not sure. It would have been logical for Rasillon to appear. I don't know whether they asked him and he said no, or whether he burned some bridges on his last appearance. I can't imagine it being the latter, as I've never heard of him being anything other than a consummate professional. My guess would be a simple scheduling conflict.

mckellen would be great as a Bond villain!

Just saw him in the wolverine extended cut. A much better movie than the theatrical. Oh see if this sounds familiar,,,, In the lead up to the last fight a huge mountain pass size snowblower chews up some bad guys

Well, Hopkins played a M-like character in Mission: Impossible II, and had the best line throughout the film.

Just saw The Bourne Legacy on DVD. This has Rachel Weisz, doing a solid acting job. Three are several top action scenes, one in a lab where a killer locks all the doors and starts shooting everyone. Another is when villains try to kill her, and the latter part of the movie is set in the Philippines with a frenetic motorcycle chase, which is good fun. The lead actor also is in many of the shots since he can ride cycles. This is a better movie than the Craig Bonds, since the hero is more human and likable.

The hero, actually is not the "human" as described, he's just a professional. And I wouldn't be surprised to see him cleaning the house for good in the next installment. Loved the Bourne Legacy because it had a heroic protagonist and not an emotionally unbalanced wimp who's reading to double cross his country anytime. Rachel Weisz was great too! Loved the bike chase. And now, the next one will be directed by Justin Lin who took the helm for a few Fast & Furious movies, making it likeable.
