Denis Villeneuve, Heyman, and Pascal recently began notifying actors who have advanced to the next round of auditions. The next tests are expected to take place in August, with Villeneuve himself reportedly reaching out directly to the talent. The process is moving into a more decisive stage, but the names of those still in contention remain under wraps.

As they should.

Harris Dickinson Reportedly Exits James Bond Race as Search for New 007 Continues

Image
The search for the next Bond continues, with the usual three names being mentioned: Jacob Elordi, Callum Turner, and Harris Dickinson. However, there are surely other lesser-known names in the running at the moment.

One of those three is now out of the running.

During a discussion on THE HOT MIC podcast, Jeff Sneider reported that Dickinson has officially withdrawn his name from consideration for the 007 role. According to Sneider, Dickinson was previously considered a top-tier candidate, ranking within the top four on the studio’s shortlist.

The rumor is that Dickinson personally contacted Bond producers David Heyman and Amy Pascal this week to remove himself from the running. The primary reason cited for this decision was exhaustion; Dickinson reportedly felt too tired to commit to another long-term, demanding franchise project like Bond after recently concluding the taxing commitment of playing John Lennon across four “Beatles” movies for director Sam Mendes.

It was always hard to imagine Dickinson as Bond, but apparently he had advanced to the final stages alongside a handful of other contending actors. As I previously reported, Amazon’s top choice is Elordi, but the studio technically doesn’t have the final say, although I’m sure it has the power to influence the process.

Never heard of Jeff Sneider. Is he a reliable source?

He's worked for entertainment and film sites for 20 years and thinks of himself as a scooper and insider. He's sort of like a Tesco Value Baz Bamigboye. I daresay he gets stuff wrong sometimes. Other Bond forums seem to be treating this as a legit scoop.

Agreed. Of all the names listed as serious contenders, he's my least favourite. None of the others have particularly excited me, but most of them would be acceptable, IMO. It's pretty much anyone but Callum at this point.

I wouldn't like to bet on how long Burnham will remain in power. He's still in his honeymoon period right now, but how long that will last is anybody's guess. Starmer never really had a honeymoon period; he was never especially popular, he just got in because the Tories had been in power for 14 years and people were ready for a change.

And yes, my birthday is on Sunday, thanks for remembering.

According to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office, Hottle was a passenger in a 1995 Honda Accord. Authorities said the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a culvert.

Went to see The Odyssey and saw a preview for Callum Turner in One Night Only, which was my first time seeing him in anything.

Even though I'd prefer him to Craig...can we really not get someone who evokes a young Timothy Dalton? Must we go through this again? Does every Bond now have to be unconventional and awkward-looking?

I still hold out hope that prime Connery made such an impression on a young Denis Villeneuve that he will end up bringing balance to the Force!
