Variety claimed in April they heard that Louis Partridge was on the Amazon MGM radar regarding Bond. He's 23 and best known for appearing in the Enola Holmes films.

Dalton and Craig, maybe. I hadn't heard of them when they were cast, even if I had seen films they were in. You would have had to prompt me with "the guy who played Prince Barin in Flash Gordon" or whatever. Brosnan was already the favourite to play Bond in 1987, and it was a surprise when Dalton was cast. Besides, she's retired now, and doesn't get a say any more.

I knew Craig pretty well from things like Our Friends in the North and Tomb Raider but I suppose he wasn't exactly a household name. I always thought he was a decent actor and had nothing against him but he just seemed to me like a bizarre choice for Bond and none of his Bond films changed my mind on that.

I'd seen Craig in things before, but he obviously didn't make much of an impact on me, as even when I was told what he'd been in, I still didn't remember him.

Changing the subject, I've just heard PJ Harvey's new song, Voyager (her first new material in 3 years), and thought it sounded quite Bondian. I wouldn’t previously have thought of her as a candidate for a Bond theme, but now I'm not so sure.

Supergirl has underperformed at the box office on its opening weekend — even falling behind one of Marvel's most infamous comic book adaptations.
Warner Bros. and DC Studios' latest superhero movie, which revolves around Superman's female cousin, debuted to a disappointing $38 million domestically and $68 million globally at the box office, falling well short of its targeted $55 million in North American ticket sales in its first weekend.
The Superman spin-off, starring House of the Dragon breakout Milly Alcock in the titular role, still has a way to go to earn back its $170 million budget, which does not include marketing costs.

Same. I'd even seen him in a film just a few weeks prior to his rumored casting and still had no clue who he was!

I think people just liked the fact that EON was making big-budget Bond movies and didn't really care who was starring in them. If you put Clive Owen in CR or Henry Cavill in SF, I believe both of those films would've still been successful.

I've also noticed the online reception to Patrick Gibson in the recent Frst Light game has been extremely positive, with people saying he's either become their favorite Bond or at least "even with Craig". And yet, ironically, Gibson's portrayal has him spouting the kind of bad puns that would've even made Moore wince! It feels like audiences are eager for a return to a Bond that actually appears to be enjoying himself in the role.

Depends on the people. I think Amazon are gambling on younger moviegoers with more disposable income being drawn to a Bond closer to their own age. As noted above, Supergirl has just become the latest in a long string of IP movies to underperform at the box office. It's not a great time to be relaunching a franchise whose audience has traditionally skewed older than Marvel, DC, Star Wars et al. So I have some sympathy for their predicament. As fans, we have the luxury of only concentrating on what we want to see. But the movie business is just that, a business.

Speaking to The Independent, McWilliams still had thoughts on who should and shouldn't be the next James Bond — and believes it needs to be an actor that has come "completely out of the blue."
"It is absolutely essential that he retains a total enigma," McWilliams said. "I don't want to see any of [the main frontrunners] as Bond because we now know so much about them," she added, reflecting that all have established acting careers.

I have to disagree with this assessment. Craig may have been tough and thuggish (in a short man syndrome kind of way) while Brosnan was cold and calculating. Dalton was an on the edge burnout except that unlike Craig his Bond felt like he had earned that as is very apparent in the books. Connery was more of a soldier (given that his Bond is the closest in time to the Commander who had actually served in a war that makes sense) and Moore was Simon Templar with a bit of a harder edge. Lazenby just looked lost unfortunately.

Funnily enough I am halfway thru my now 2 year long rewatch of the films (FYEO next up) and I have enjoyed each and every one of them and the actors portrayal. I’m really not looking forward to the Craig films as I find most them a slog. May just have to give them a miss.

In today's Metro newspaper, there's an interview with an actor named Tom Brittney, who I confess I'm not familiar with. He was apparently shortlisted to play Superman, but lost out to David Corenswet. They asked him if there are any other roles he'd like to play, and he replied "a certain martini-drinking character...." At 35, he's at the older end of the age range they're looking for, but what do you think?
