Maybe Bond is different and still relevant enough that it could become a flagship franchise for Amazon, but more generally I notice a lot of great TV shows on streaming platforms get canceled after two or three seasons despite being really popular. I have to wonder if part of it is the actors demanding a bigger slice of the pie after a few years so the bean counters declare it too expensive and the whole thing gets axed. That is TV shows. With blockbuster movies traditionally the budgets are on a whole other level but since the pandemic maybe the money thing is more of a factor there as well. My point is if their Bond actor starts to get expensive, do you think they will try to drop him based on that, or is the latest Bond worth his weight in gold, still?

And Connery was 32 when he made Dr No, but he looked about 60 by the time he appeard in DAF.

Yes he did and strangely hardly looks any older in NSNA.

The big priority in streaming is to constantly attract new subscribers, which is a main reason they cancel shows so quickly. The idea being that having a bunch of shiny new shows to attract new customers is better than a few shows with a loyal fanbase.

So the good news is Bond will likely be very successful in attracting new subscribers, but the bad news is it will likely result in lots of attempts to create new spin-off series as fans feared when Amazon acquired the rights.

But honestly, I don’t think we’re gonna see the kind of staying power like Hugh Jackman had in the wolverine. That’s the kind of actor I’d like to have his bond, dedicated to the role for decades. But I just don’t think actors are wired that way anymore. Even Sean Connery burned out after a few.

I felt that way when everyone was trying to predict Brosnan's replacement, as I just didn't think someone like Clive Owen (or even Craig) would stick around beyond their initial contract. And in a way that turned out to be true, as Craig didn't really perform the role for 15 years so much as Babs just decided to mothball the series for years at a time. Had it been any other producer, Craig would've likely been out the door at least 5 years sooner.

Ironically, I think there's probably a better chance of getting an actor to stick around today simply because sequels and franchises that span decades have become so much more common. There's less of a stigma attached, both to the idea of sequels as well as to the thought of an actor becoming typecast in a popular role.

That's the reason they're going for a younger actor this time. A 26-year-old could play Bond for 20 years, and still only be a year older than Roger was when he made LALD.

I have to guess the summit with China did not go well. Big new wave of bots as soon as the summit ended. 90% from China, a few from a few other places. One server range was from Apple. I would thing Apple could secure their servers. Maybe it is indexing the forum?

Why "BOT UP" this particular website in the first place?

It’s nothing to do with us. It is every forum like this. They attack by sending repeated request that over load the server. It could be an end run to overload the servers forums are hosted on and not the actual forum.
Tapatalk came back online last night. Not sure what they did but on the main page our visitor count went from 30k to 200. They are blocking them somehow.

Over the weekend Tapatalk wouldn’t load so I used the safari browser. There was there were literally tens of thousands of bots on here at the same time.

Thats when the home page would load. I’d bet 100k or more were attacking.
