I mean, this is a general discussion thread, so we've always talked about all sorts of stuff here. But yeah, I look forward to when we finally start getting real news instead of clickbait.

I don't want to predict actual dates, but assuming the new Bond is announced some time around June, I imagine we'll get a steady drip-feed of news during the second half of the year: other principal cast members (villan/Bond girl/M/Q/Moneypenny), locations, a vague outline of the plot and so on. Things like the artist for the theme song probably won't be announced until the film has finished shooting.

I think it just boils down to people knowing Moore was too old for the role at that point and therefore refusing to suspend disbelief. For example, even in a film like Die Hard, it's clearly evident whenever Bruce Willis is being doubled. However, you also know Willis was young enough for the role so it's easier to overlook.

If the action sequences had been better tailored to address Moore's age, the film would likely have a better reputation, imo. It's actually a fairly grounded Bond film that allows Bond to do more spying than usual while also serving as a natural transition to the Dalton era. (Complete with heightened violence and a more sociopathic villain, much to Moore's dismay.)
Sorry for the late reply, but yeah you're probably right that people just wrote the whole thing off because of his age, whereas if they had showed some more awareness of it in the script and action it would take some of the weight out of that excuse for the critics. Still, I think the scene where he lets air out of the car tires to breathe underwater is cool because he is relying on his wits to survive. We just have to gloss over the bit that he can see Zorin and May Day through the water but they can't see him. Maybe they just see reflections on the water, like Tina sang a few movies later? :)

Don't worry DB. By this time in 3 years there MAY be a Bond film from Amazon. In the mean time, this should be interesting to see: https://www.facebook.com/reel/1453660222824190
