The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
After learning that Denis Villeneuve had been in talks with Babbzy even before the Amazon buyout, my concern is not that the next film will be a radical overhaul of the Bond franchise, but that it will be too much like the previous era. I await the announcement of who is writing it. If they bring back Purvis and Wade yet again, then I think whoever they cast, it will be a case of "meet the new Bond, same as the old Bond".

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
The results of a MailOnline poll revealed that the majority of film-lovers would rather 'someone else' play 007. A staggering 72 per cent of voters opted for the 'someone else' option, while 13 per cent picked Australian Jacob Elordi, five per cent chose Harris Dickinson and 10 percent fancied Holland.......There is reportedly set to be no explanation of how the special agent is still alive, no multiverse of Bonds and no attempt to go back to the 1960s for a vintage Bond. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/a ... rable.html

I don't really care any more. It's more likely than not to be one of those three, and while none of them particularly excite me, any of them would be an improvement on Craig, though that's damning with faint praise.

Anyway, here's some good news, a remastered and expanded version of the soundtrack to the last time a 29-year-old was cast as Bond:

I remember that show, I really enjoyed it, was sort of a spiritual predecessor to "Burn Notice." Ahead of it's time and cancelled way too early.Omega wrote: Thu Jul 03, 2025 7:30 pm Michael Madsen has passed away,

Yes, I would describe it. Kind of like burn notice.dirtybenny wrote:I remember that show, I really enjoyed it, was sort of a spiritual predecessor to "Burn Notice." Ahead of it's time and cancelled way too early.Omega wrote: Thu Jul 03, 2025 7:30 pm Michael Madsen has passed away,

Terrible news. My mum had Alzheimer's in her final years, so I've seen up close what it can do to a person.bjmdds wrote:James Bond star's ex-wife turned caretaker reveals dementia diagnosis. Re lazenby. that’s unfortunate, he didn’t have the reputation as being the nicest or most agreeable in the best of times I imagine it can be quite difficult to look after him. He’s not sure what’s going on or when.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Sydney Sweeney might be a Bond girl. Director Denis Villeneuve is at the helm of whatever comes next in the Bond universe as the franchise does a bit of a reset. Could that include the addition of Sweeney? It certainly sounds possible, judging from a report published by The Sun. "Sydney is the top name on the casting sheet for Bond. Denis believes she is hugely talented, as well as having an alluring appeal to younger generations, vital in modernising the franchise. They’ve hung out together a lot and he has admired her stratospheric rise," an unnamed source told the outlet. The unnamed source further told The Sun, "Plus Sydney has the quality of being athletic and able to perform physical scenes, as well as being feminine and following in the legacy of Bond girls."

The Sun is not a reliable source. It sometimes gets things right, but even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Ever since she was spotted at Jeff Bezos' mega-wedding, rumors swirled that Sydney Sweeney may be in the running to be the next Bond Girl for his Amazon MGM Studios ... but TMZ has learned that casting isn't being shaken or stirred. An insider with direct knowledge tells TMZ ... Sydney is not currently in talks to play the next Bond Girl, despite rampant online speculation -- and even some headlines debating the proposed choice.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
They're not going to cast the female lead before they've cast Bond. There are always rumours that any actress who routinely tops polls of sexiest women is going to be the next Bond girl, but they usually end up casting a relative unknown.
