This is pretty cool. Always say it’s great to see Bond on skis and this scene never rang as good as OHMSS, Spy, For Your Eyes Only, but it’s still good and Bond’77 makes it better imo!!

In the recent episode of James Bond & Friends podcast, Barbara Broccoli is once again working with Daniel Cr-egg, this time on his passion project to bring his incarnation of 'Othello' to the big screen (he was the lead in the Broadway production in 2016-2017). Broccoli is once again attached to produce, and it is understood that the duo are seeking investors from Qatar to bankroll the production. Cr-egg is currently shooting the third Benoit Blanc movie for Netflix. Broccoli is also exec producing the second season of '007: Road To A Million' for Amazon Prime. Further doubt over the timeline for a Bond rebirth came this week through a short clip with movie producer Ashok Amritraj (and brother of Vijay who appeared in 'Octopussy') when he revealed that he is working with his "close personal friend Barbara Broccoli" on two projects for Amazon Studios. The pair have history as they have collaborated on projects before. Most notably, the big screen adaptation of the thriller 'Remote Control' was supposed to be produced by EON in collaboration with Amritraj's Hyde Park company. Originally set up in 2009 with Sony Pictures, ten years later the project was set to star Gerard Butler and directed by John Matheson. Filming was scheduled to start in 2020 but never got going - presumably because of the global pandemic. It is unclear whether one of the two projects mentioned by Amritraj includes the 'Othello' movie or not. Either way, Broccoli is very busy with projects, and none of them involve a new James Bond.To date, none of EON's 'non-Bond' films have turned a profit..............once gain Broccoli is spending her money and time with her boy toy she cannot relinquish and never will while the Bond franchise collects mothballs in a closet!

I wrote about Othello a few weeks ago on here. And Remote Control isn’t happening. Whoever said this is wrong. That project is as dead as a doornail. No real Bond news will happen until the latter part of 2026 with a release in October of 2027.

I hope they're wrong about seeking investment from Qatar, a very dodgy regime.

They are. And I agree with you all the way. But Hollywood isn’t about morals. They often wax poetic about human rights abuses and all of that, but if they need money, they all of a sudden go deaf, dumb and blind. It’s quite sick and they’re all doing it. So is the athletic world. Specifically combat sports. Money is God hallelujah!

Gail Simone has been named the next James Bond comics writer for Dynamite Entertainment. Her story is tentatively titled “Iridescent!” No information is yet available on artists or release date. Says Simone, "It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Ian Fleming's James Bond. I like the version that's involved in the meanest part of the secret wars of espionage, the kind of warrior who does his work in the dark. I want the Bond who has dalliances with beautiful women and then goes home to an empty apartment. I want adventure and risk around every corner, with the next betrayal always looming over his head. 'Iridescent' is one of my favorite stories I've ever written, about a character I have loved since I first saw The Man With the Golden Gun years ago. It's high action, big stakes, and a very, very human Bond. I'm grateful to Dynamite and Ian Fleming Publications for asking me to do this dream project!" Image

The link seems to not work. Although I’m happy to play the video games, I don’t follow the comics of James Bond. What did we get the last time they attempted this (I kind of like what she’s saying about bedding women and going back to an empty apartment; she says she’s a fan of Fleming (a huge plus for me when a someone respects the source material), and high actions and particularly “big stakes” sound appealing, especially after the film version from the past fifteen years forgot what big stakes were (bankrupting a terrorist, stealing water, trying to kill M, Blofeld’s Nine Eyes nothingness… and after killing Spectre Safin’s big plan was to……sell the nanobots. 🤔. Not really a lot of big stakes on a grand scale (it’s all mainly, personal)?

The link works. Unfortunately, the security certificate expired, so you'll have to click the "advanced" button to bypass. In essence, the previous "Bond" comic revolved around a self insert of the two authors and shunted Bond to the side where he was literally told to sit down and shut up.

Thanks for replying, and, yes, agreed, that sounds terrible, and I wonder what the point of that would be? Fans want to see their hero in action, not pushed off to one side. Sounds tone-deaf, or their ego is so large they thought this was somehow a good idea.

Pluto007 wrote: Fri Jul 19, 2024 6:14 pm By YOLT, Blofeld felt like a different man altogether,
I agree, the faceless Blofelds i FRWL and TB were by far the best.

I don't think a similar serious Blofeld would've worked i YOLT though since the movie was so over the top.

The mad scientist type Blofeld was actually quite fitting for YOLT.

KILL BOND NOW!

Gray in DAF's Blofeld was ridiculous after he was in a wheel chair at the end of the previous movie and had hair on his head suddenly, only to return in FYEO and be thrown into a chimney bald........Originally, On Her Majesty's Secret Service was to include the twist that Blofeld was Auric Goldfinger's twin brother, and would be portrayed by Gert Fröbe. However, this plotline was scrapped when it was delayed in favor of You Only Live Twice. Czech actor Jan Werich was originally cast by producer Harry Saltzman to play Blofeld in You Only Live Twice. Upon his arrival at the Pinewood set, both producer Albert R. Broccoli and director Lewis Gilbert felt that he was a bad choice, resembling a "poor, benevolent Santa Claus." Nonetheless, in an attempt to make the casting work, Gilbert continued filming. After five days, both Gilbert and Broccoli determined that Werich was not menacing enough, and recast Donald Pleasence in the role – the official excuse being that Werich was ill.

I don't know what AI writen article you found this BJ, but DAF was supposed to be Goldfinger's twin, featuring Frobe as the twin, conceived after a dream by Cubby.

The bookmaker CORAL actually has Aidan Turner listed with odds around 17/1 now to land the role of Bond.

I think the Goldfinger's twin brother idea resurfaced several times, but got furthest with DAF, where he would have been as obsessed with diamonds as his brother was with gold. It was a terrible idea, but it would have made most sense in DAF. They brought back Sean Connery, Guy Hamilton and Shirley Bassey, so why not Gert Frobe?

Charles Gray was also Henderson in YOLT as you know.

Weird that he returned to the series as Blofeld.
