My confidence in Babs Broccoli being able to pick the next James Bond(or do anything related to the Bond films)is waning,

I certainly don't trust Broccoli now but with Sony's money she's almost unstoppable. Craggy Craig will be shoved in our faces ad nauseam from late summer onwards until it appears that QOS is the only film currently in production anywhere in the world. However the film turns out everyone will probably act as if it's Casablanca, just like they did with CR. I just hope they make a James Bond film with a leading actor who isn't called Daniel Craig one day although with Babs at the helm I dread to think who will be next.

I'm not sure that anyone thought CR was Casablanca but it was a relief for someone like me who went in expecting Die Another Day. I think it was having such low expectations that helped everyone enhoy it so much. That and some better lines, better story and excellent supporting cast.

I really enjoy it. And Craig as Bond. But I won't be worried about the next person to play Bond. There has been enough talk about the pretty-boy-not-so-great-actor Brosnan v the not-so-pretty-but-great-actor Craig... maybe next time they will find a guy that has the ability to act and make us believe he's Bond (like Craig) while giving the fans a pretty face (like Broz).

Funnily enough... the people that complain most about Craig's looks, the ones that want a pretty face, are men. Most of the women I know really thing that Craig made a great Bond.

Try telling that to the woman who runs that Klast site. :| The Bond forum I used to post on actually lost its three biggest female characters because they found DC a step too far. About seven million steps. The 'Plumber Bond' as one used to call him. These things are unquantifiable in terms of demographics so it's pointless to dwell on it I suppose.

I've never found Craig that inspiring as an actor so I can't even join the camp who feel his looks aren't perfect (more Mel Smith than Sean Connery IMO) but that he compensates with his incredible acting abilities. All things pertaining to Daniel Craig are a mystery to me I'm afraid.

But I agree with retrokitty. Next time find a decent, interesting actor WHO LOOKS LIKE JAMES BOND.

Well, I think he's a good actor AND he convinced me he was James Bond. I never said he didn't look like James Bond just that if they got a pretty face that would satisfy those that think James Bond is pretty. I know he's supposed to be handsome, but I find that they way Craig portrays Bond, he has an attractiveness that is similar to what I picture when reading the books. I don't picture a pretty boy...

Having said all that, my fave Bond is Lazenby and that is partly to do with his tremendous good looks and partly to do with how he portrayed Bond is such a cool understated way.

But that's just me.... *drifts off into Lazenby dreamland*

Agree with Katie-D. Broccoli copied Damon's short statured short haired look and chose her dreamboat Craig to play the role, when she had a HOST of finer talent to fit the role. IF TBM does not top expectations though, watch her pull a Brosnan and drop him with a simple phone call. The more I see of him, the more intense my feelings become to have him permanently removed from the role of James Bond. I might even walk out of TBM if I cannot tolerate Craig's portrayal of a Brosnan-type Bond, as it is looking more and more like it will be. Katie-D, do not rush out opening night to see it. There will be plenty of empty seats in the theatres this time, with Haggis and Forster's ridiculous original plot synopsis.

Lazenby and Craig's looks are night and day, and not even close. Lazenby had the closest Connery look of all that followed Sean. To like Craig, when Lazenby is your favorite, is puzzling to me. The women I know find Craig a putrid horror and would not be caught anywhere near him. Aside from Eon's phony spin doctored polls on the internet and magazines, where are these women who find him so remarkable, for they certainly are not watching his other NUMEROUS film flops?

I never said that Craig and Laz were close.... I said that the way Craig portrays Bond is close to what I picture when reading the books. Then I went on to say, "Having said that" which implies a contradiction, "my fave Bond is Lazenby due in part to his looks." Which is an opposing position to how and why I like Craig.

Trust me, I know what is classic good looks and what is not. Craig does not have classic good looks... but his look as Bond has an attraction for many... partly due to his acting and partly due to his stylist.

I used to thnk Daniel Craig was the best thing since sliced bread...then I saw the light :P

Unfortunately, James' observation about Sony giving Babs bottomless money is true.I think we'll be back to the days of c*rap Bond films sooner than some think.Which is sad,but will make the more moronic segemts of Bond fandom happy :?

I agree with Edward Fox who said that Daniel craig is "So ugly! He is utterly wrong for Bond. The opposite of what Fleming intended, and I knew Fleming".

Craig looks more like a Bond villian than the Bond Fleming described. The modern setting means that it is difficult to conjure up Fleming's world in his Bond movies, and Craig's Bond is bound to seem psycologically different from Fleming's Bond.

Casino Royale was a simply dreadful and charmless adaption of the novel; but it was difficult for it to be otherwise.

Isn't she mostly a Brosnan fan though? I noticed she posted a lot of news links on Craig that were very nasty and very negative. But she stopped doing that during CR's release because of one obvious reason, the press started to love Craig and so there was nothing negative to put up. She comes off as Deanna Brayton, only she's not insane.

Glad to see Katied is shifting her thoughts on Craig to fit in with the majority of anti-Craig and get a "Double O" then use it as an excuse to say "see? DCINB is more fair than 'the place that shall not be named'". :P

Just because you never got a warning doesn't mean you get a free pass around here.

If you want to continue this, use private messaging. I don't want this thread to shift further than we have made it.
