Craig is currently starring as Iago in Othello in New York, opposite David Oyelowo. In a "Shakespearean twist", the show's producer turns out to be Barbara Broccoli, "scion of the 007 franchise who brought in Craig in 2006 for the string of hits Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre", says the New York Post.

A source told the newspaper: "Daniel thinks of himself as a 'serious actor' and he wants to stretch his artistic muscles. And Barbara really believes in his talent. For her to do this [play] for him is a gift. Of course she wants him back - this is going to entice him to make another Bond movie."

Sure it is. I wonder if the entertainment press is just as accurate as the regular news. A source told, im to the point I want them to name them or shut up .
If the source is Craig's agent it's nothing, if it's a eon groupie it's still probably nothing. The way they words these thing are so self serving and the press is too happy to not check it out and play along. It obvious all that crap come from someone promoting Craig. Or with s interest in promoting him. He's been held up for 10 years by a great pr machine and clueless press

I don't disbelieve she wants Craig back mainly because she is lazy and recasting is hard.

2 of Craig's Bond got Oscar recognition while none of Pierce's got any. Might as well send in the Zerg as Bond.

The Oscar recognition you are talking about FBF, is for bloody theme songs. They got the first one because they hired Adele and the second one was guaranteed because last Oscars were drown in PC which means Smith,an openly gay man just had to win. This says absolutely nothing about the quality of those last two films. Not that there is any quality there to actually talk about.

Correct V. FBF should not get too upset over songs getting nominated as long as Cr-egg was not.

You guys are MISSING the POINT here. Considering these American awards system are no longer legitimate as it once was, a Bond film starring a Zerg as Bond himself might as well get nominated by them.

I don't think the awards system was ever really legitimate, sure now it's more self serving about who is the celebrity other celebrities want to meet (Adele).

I think any meaning something like a Oscar had it was lost long before any of us were born.

To add to what I said, these awards exist because of actors egos . They don't really make or do anything like the rest of the movie industry from directors to set and makeup who actually build something real, actors pretend with nothing substantial as the result.

Also IMO why so many feel the need to make psa about who to vote for and waste time talking about their politics to the rest of the nation.

Most of us honestly don't care what they think, whatever they say will piss of half the country in every country the sell movies in so why do it?

IMO they want to matter in the real world and politics give them the opportunity to think they mattered. They truly believe them being a recognizable public figure influences people's opinions, they think they are proselytizing to the great heathen masses and their words will enlighten the hicks.

To me the awards are part of the same meaningless circle of self congratulating people who actually accomplish nothing in their life.

It was the public that made these ceremonies into a spectacle. The Oscars get billions of viewers worldwide, nobody is forcing them to watch. The technical categories like best sound design used to be part of the main ceremony, but in recent years, they have been dumped into a separate ceremony, because nobody was interested. I find it a bit hypocritical that people are all "Oh, I hate celebrities" while obsessing over Kim Kardashian's every fart.

The best Oscars was in 2004 when LOTR3 won all 11 nominations. Adding to the treat, Sean and Pierce were both presenters. After that, it slowly lost its taste.

I thought maybe 40 million watch the oscars, 20 to 30 million for golden globes
Kris is right about complaining about celebrities while obsessing over them. I'm not offended by what's her face and dr house speaking out, I think it's useless for a real result. The only time I think speaking out had a impact was a native singer winning a contest in Canada she displayed a seal skin bracket encouraged people to buy native crafts adding f- PETA, that may have helped her people with all the attention it got. Otherwise it's just pissing off 50% of the people. If it were a NRA believer getting up there to talk up gun rights or someone from Utah talking against government t land grabs it wouldn't be tolerated

Lotr got snubbed several times and it was basically mandated they get some king of recognition for their accomplishments and reviving moving industry with billions in attendance by the time of the 3rd movie

It bugs me big movies are often snubbed in favor of some art house wanna be.

It's probably 40 million in the US, but a much higher figure worldwide. Maybe billions was overestimating a little. I don't know if the Golden Globes have the same international appeal that the Oscars do.

Looks like the Oscar producers overhype the viewership some. Still it impressive considering the millions in these countries which do watch a show I don't care to.

My view on awards shows as I think about it is soured because of disappointing results ignoring the popcorn flicks that are hollywoods bread and butter for late in the year entries made specifically as Oscar bait.

I think we were talking a few years ago about maybe the oscars shouldn't be a annual event but a two or three year vote on the best movies.

I don't know if it would make them better or not.

I'm happy to make a distinction between popcorn fodder, which gets its reward at the box office, and award-winning, usually smaller movies. When you mix the two, you get middlebrow sludge like the Craig Bond films.

that may be. I don't remember it very well, at the time George w bush was trying to get me killed, so it's all kind of a blur. But I would say I think the awards went down hill fast after, in a way Hollywood movies took a sharp decline in quality too so maybe it's all related.

At the time I remember thinking lotr only got a nod because it was the last year they could acknowledge the series and it's innovations which I truly believe reinvigorated Hollywood for that decade.

Side thought , Going over a list of major movies for 2015, 2014, I could pick out only a handful which were truly good or worth making imo. I'm leaning towards Hollywood is over saturating the market with crap films which might be slightly entertaining but not worth making for the results(Monetary and other)
Did we really need a blackhat or hot tube time machine 2?

ok I'll give you that.
But to me pacific rim a low preforming popcorn flick was a incredible well made and well told story.
Avatar was a better directed movie with decades of planning over hurt locker.

The original Star Wars and sequels changed the world.
2016s Spotlight, couldn't tell you what it's about. How was Creed not on the list?

The kings speech is a nice bit of feel good propaganda/fluff. But not better than inception or the fighter.

The artist. Ok that year maybe the help was the better movie.

Argo-- go f' yourself! Lincoln was probably the best film.

12 years a slave, the other contenders suck so I don't know I totally disagree. Screw gravity.

Birdman, not sure haven't see it, of the contenders American sniper was incredible. Best anti war film in a long time.

My wondering thought is movies like Cpt America Winter soldier, aren't even considered despite having good story telling and acting.

I think Brosnan was named best dressed that year. He sure as hell looked good.
I generally like to watch the Oscars,it gives me a taste of the world I am not a part of. I'll probably watch them this year as well but I definitely lost enthusiasm after last year. The only thing I geniuely remember is that joke involving Jada Smith's comment how she won't come to the Oscars.
As for movies...what movies? It was all about social and political issues. Di Caprio getting the Oscar also felt like a case of "Well, why don't we just give it to him already?". He was nominated four times before that and each time it was for a more interesting role and film than the bore called The Revenant. And his speech was about...well,I don't really remember I just know it wasn't about acting or films.

Not really rooting for a particular film this year so will(shockingly) probably just semi-watch the Oscars this year. More excited about the Superb Owl than I am the Oscars and I usually could care less about football. Really don't now that the Chargers are leaving San Diego. :P
