In terms of getting hurt, they rank:
Lazenby - Never got a scratch, but he did lose his wife the day he married her. That's really gotta hurt.
Craig - Sent to the hospital after being in a car crash and getting his balls beaten.
Connery - Got tortured by Dr. No's men, got dirty and burned while escaping through the ventalation system.
Dalton - Got real bloody and dirty after rolling with a tanker in LTK.
Moore - Moore did get cut on his arm in LALD, but that was merely to draw in the sharks.
Brosnan - Never a scratch.
I know Brosnan went through Korean torture, however there were no consequences. One day after being freed after 14 years of torture he just happens to be in top physical shape swimming in Hong Kong harbor not showing any signs of vulnerability.
Then dislocated shoulder comes to mind from TWINE, but it had no effect on Bond anyway. The only time he suffered from the injury was when Renard pressed it, serving as a plot device for Bond to suspect Elektra.
I'd also like to note that Halle Berry got a cut on her stomach during the climax. However that cut magically vanishes when she's with Bond in bed (with shards of diamonds which should be painful to lie on anyway).

Exactly! Craig is the only Bond who has truly bled, and been badly scarred physically after an action sequence. Before the pathetic, laughable scene at the beginning of DAD, he was the first Bond to have appeared recovering in hospital too (without faking a heart attack and springing to life to beat up everyone in the room).James1090 wrote:Thats something Craig has over some of the other ones. Timothy Dalton was one of the ones who looked like he was hurt. As much as i liked all of the old Bonds I always wondered why he never really got hurt with all the fights he got into.katied wrote:One of the best aspects of CR is that they didn't shy away from showing Bond getting hurt.I mean,he was in intensive care after his b@ll busting(actually it was a combo of the b@ll busting and crashing his car.)Plus,he got a bit beat up during the scenes at the embassy, and at the airport.
Dalton and Connery have both appeared in ragged, torn, dirty clothing before, but that is as far as it goes. Other than that, I often thought Bond bordered on being an invincible super hero - at its peak during the 70's.

Not exactly Sweenster, remember Craig has his crotch attacked and was out for the count, yet he was next seen with Vesper of all things SITTING ON HIS LAP. Just after that, he was back on the trail of Mr. White. A quick healer? The Sweeney wrote:Exactly! It looks as though this WILL be the longest opening sequence in Bond film history, their newest twist out of reality, with a 15 minute car chase opening the film. Imagine a theme song at minute 28? Already several serious stuntmen injuries. I guess the action director from The Bourne Ultimatum is getting his money's worth out of his new job. Look for a lot of OTT action in QOSTBM.

In light of flying lasers, invisible cars, double-taking pigeons, faking heart attacks, surfing on icebergs, etc. I find sitting on his lap the height of realism....bjmdds wrote:Not exactly Sweenster, remember Craig has his crotch attacked and was out for the count, yet he was next seen with Vesper of all things SITTING ON HIS LAP. Are pro-Craigers capable of defending CR against criticism without resorting to "bbbut Brosnan"?The Sweeney wrote:In light of flying lasers, invisible cars, double-taking pigeons, faking heart attacks, surfing on icebergs, etc. I find sitting on his lap the height of realism....

Yes.Kristatos wrote:Are pro-Craigers capable of defending CR against criticism without resorting to "bbbut Brosnan"?
Certainly not better than DN and FRWL. But I think it is DEFINATELY better than YOLT by miles. Not because YOLT is OTT, but because it is just badly made. The only strong points are Ken Adam and John Barry while everything else was just sub-par.Head to head:Was CR better than any of the first five Connery films?

I'd say it's better than YOLT, and a very good Bond film. Not quite as good as the first four though. They are classics.bjmdds wrote:Head to head:Was CR better than any of the first five Connery films? Not in my book, not even close.
To true bj, to be honest, I'm growing tired of the Craig is great , Brosnan is bad stuff. To me, they all (six of 'em) fit into the series together. There is more to James Bond than Brosnan's 4 films.
I was just thinking about the popularity of CR, for me it has dipped slightly since its release, nothing bad, but just slightly. But it got me thinking, CR is to some of us a good Bond film, and I think it is. But it's also a well made and good looking film. I think it would stand up well if it were a one off. What do you think?
I mean if there was only one James Bond film, and CR was the first, it would be a good film. Yes.

Woah!
Hold on a second, let's not get carried away. I'm not tired of Craig, but like Stocks said, the whole Craig is great, Brosnan is bad mentality. It's tiresome.
Though on reflection CR is not as great as I might've initially thought. Though it would easily rank in my top ten or higher. Probably 5-7 mark.
I still think it's the best Bond film since TLD.
I also look forward to QOS and believe that it will cater for a bigger audience. The change from Brosnan to Craig in CR was a big issue, for QOS it's no surprise. I'm getting the feeling that QOS even with Craig as Bond could be a more familiar Bond film. I hope it can entice a few people to enjoy Bond slightly more than in recent years. Though almost all the Bond films are easily watched by myself. Even a recent viewing of DAD was not as bad as usual.
I've even got a love of TMWTGG, MR and DAF that are usually the poorer films on my all time faves list. Pretty much if it's a Bond film I'll watch it. Some give me a bigger enjoyment than others. I'm just your typical Bond fan I guess.
