Most reviews of Flashbacks are not too good. Any UK'ers here see it?

Also set in Los Angeles, but filmed in South Africa and Britain, Flashbacks of a Fool is a curiously pointless exercise directed by Baillie Walsh, who is apparently much respected for his commercials and pop videos. A British movie star, Joe Scot, played by the film's co-producer Daniel Craig, is at the end of his tether, spending more time sniffing coke and engaging in orgies than making movies. One drunken night, in suicidal mood, Scot goes to the beach and wades Norman Maine-style into the Pacific.

This brings on an extended flashback to his teenage youth in Britain during the 1980s when he dressed in the glam-rock manner, had an affair with a married woman that inadvertently resulted in her little daughter's death and let down his girlfriend. These dreary memories explain or justify nothing, but apparently they free Scot.

May watch it if turns up on television; but it sounds awful.

Even in the UK? I guess Craig IS typecast as Bond, in only one film to boot. Infamous, TGC, The Invasion, Flashbacks, all busts. I guess no Craig star on the Hollywood walk of fame unless Broccoli makes them an offer they cannot refuse.

No,it'll probably go straight to video here.A few of his pre-Bond movies are straight-to-video type films.Since he became Bond they figure they can lure people into watching it by putting his name on the video box in huge letters

So far, it isn't working. Eon's probable reason to be promoting the Bourne Mimicry so far in advance of it's release date. They might just be 'a little' concerned that Craig's post-Bond films have not been well received, and now even in the UK with Flashbacks.

Why should it matter to EON? It's not like Craig's predecessors had similar successes to their 007 films with non-Bond films. Do you expect them to be scratching their heads saying "Hmm, looks like Craig's non-Bond films aren't doing well, shall we boot him?" :P

I'm still interested in seeing how Defiance does. It will be released a month after QOS.

I still don't understand this major concern for Craig's non-Bond films. He has already stated a million times that he doesn't want to be typecast, and that he tries to choose as many varied roles as possible, regardless of whether the film itself is a blockbuster vehicle or not.

Craig right now has the luxury of appearing in the big blockbuster movie (QOS) and then picking parts that he fancies that are not going to give him the massive paycheck. This is because he still first and foremost sees himself as an actor, not a movie star. Big difference.

Bj, why do you not understand this?

I'd watch a Craig film if it was something that I wanted to see. FOAF just does not appeal to me.

Me too. The subject matter doesn't sound interesting to me.

Defiance might be worth seeing, but I don't see FOAF being a blockbuster,in the UK or anywhere else. But that's just my opinion.

Defiance has an interesting story, and good actors(not just Daniel Craig!)

When was the last time a drama was a blockbuster? The Godfather comes to mind but that raked in cash mostly through its longevity at the box office unlike today's blockbusters making the money from the get go before everyone got tired of them.

Daniel Craig's name will be all over the advertising on Flashbacks here in the States, trying to get people to see it.'Cause he's just about the only thing going for that movie.(True!)

And we'll see on Defiance.I hope they can market it right(unlike say Flashbacks where he's the *only* well known actor in the movie)

Forget DC's non Bond arty films.............of course they will make only a pittance.

The same applied to his predeccesors in the Bond role!

Come November, the public will flock to see QOS in there droves!!

Blimey.........its not rocket science

The context was Craig's appeal in the USA market, which has been proven quite weak. This COULD lower the revenue for TBM in the USA. I still am surprised the UK's love affair with Layer Cake did not run over to FLashbacks there.

No...........BJ........we dont have a love affair with Craig in the UK.......
but we do like good Bond films.

I mean very few people over here went to see the film 'The Invasion',
and the opening for 'A flashback of a fool' was miniscule.

We like the big blockbusters here in the UK as you do in the US!!

Did you see or hear from anyone that saw Flashbacks? Was Craig a 'fool' to think it would fly?
