Have it from Variety, the authority in the business, what the Man from U.N.C.L.E promo looks like:
http://variety.com/2015/film/news/the-m ... 201518073/
"Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for Cold War thriller “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,” revealing that an atomic bomb has wound up in the hands of a criminal organization.
The trailer is replete with speedboats and gunplay — echoing the iconic James Bond movie of the era, 1963’s “From Russia with Love.” The movie opens Aug. 14."

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Interestingly, there was another trailer that was in some U.S. theaters the weekend of May 29-31. I know because I saw it. It was shown before Warner Bros.'s San Andreas movie.
It was very similar to the trailer that went online today. But there were a couple of differences. I don't know what was going on (was the May 29-31 trailer a test trailer?)
For those unfamiliar with the original TV series, here are some details about what is the same/similar and what's different with the film.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I was just about to post that. The first trailer? Is at almost 4 million views now (3.99 mln). Considering it is a franchise that is JUST starting now and that they advertised it with moderation and not with a full on aggressive campaign, this says at the very least that there's a marked interest around the film. The best part is this cost a FRACTION of the Bond Spectre budget, and it already looks a MILLION times better, and like an appropriate, ACTUAL James Bond movie should look.Veronica wrote:The new U.N.C.L.E. trailer came 15 hours ago and now it has 1,5 million views! Both Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer are great casting choices, but what is better, is that the rest of the cast looks perfect, too. The two women, both the "good" girl with Armie and the evil one with Henry, look like they're playing well rounded characters, and the two actresses look perfect in the part. This very much pleases me.
Can't wait!!

Spy, The Kingsmen, The Man From Uncle, and MI films all show that you can have FUN watching that genre vs. Broccoli's trash.

Honestly, when that blonde one said:"I'm sorry I won't be the one to finish you" or sth along those line I just waited her to say:"Do you know what happens when the man is strangled?"

From the popularity of trailers you can see audience is still very much buying something that is a as cool, humorous and not really that serious-just another smack in the face of Babs and her stupid excuses that I don't think she even believes in."With Casino Royale we went back to classic Bond." Ha! Don't think so! She just tries to justify her decisions. Because the casting of Craig is controversial even after 10 years. Isn't this site the main proof? And also all the money they spend on PR.

And plus,SPECTRE costs(that's what they said anyway) 300$ millions. Whats that about? Seriously, what we saw ftom the trailer looks like it could have been made on 20$ million dolar budget. How much money are they going to spend this time on advertising? What's going to be next?

ECH-TRE looks like a continuation of the Freudian interrogation of Bond's pysche by Mendes, Broccoli, and the writers. Just think of this moronic premise going over big with the masses who will buy anything EON shovels at them. I wonder if this new Blofeld incarnation will be petting a cobra snake instead of a cat

I believe they're a conscious reaction to the pretentiousness of the rebooted Bond franchise. Certainly Kingsman was pretty upfront about it.bjmdds wrote:Spy, The Kingsmen, The Man From Uncle, and MI films all show that you can have FUN watching that genre vs. Broccoli's trash.

I don't think the villain is Blofeld but some kind of Bonds brother named Oberhauser and he was jelaous because his father favored James over him...a family drama...bjmdds wrote:ECH-TRE looks like a continuation of the Freudian interrogation of Bond's pysche by Mendes, Broccoli, and the writers. Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
You are right, Kris. I think that the ridiculous and unnecessary "oh let's do a Freudian drama" approach the Bond franchise has taken, for something that was NEVER even remotely meant to be a psycho drama (it is in fact an insult to Fleming's legacy to turn this into an actually CHEAP psycho drama with Days of Our Lives amorous Bond as protagonist), has pushed others to show what the action spy genre was actually about, and Bond in particular.Kristatos wrote:I believe they're a conscious reaction to the pretentiousness of the rebooted Bond franchise. NEVER in the books is there the RIDICULOUS approach that the disgraceful Pascal and Broccoli took. Broccoli held a lot more power than she actually should have been allowed ONLY because she was constantly backed up by Pascal. Now that she is gone, things are definitely going to change in that sense. And especially if WB becomes the distributor, Broccoli can kiss all her dreams of psycho babble soap Bond goodbye. The man who replaced Pascal WON'T support her in that anyway, and the criticism as can be seen from some of the emails from November, was rampant already. MGM now can yield a lot more power and if as it seems WB is going to be the new distributor, finally the sensible execs at MGM who for starters wanted to cut down useless costs, will have another sensible partner helping them veer things in the right direction.
I really do believe that Pascal's departure is KEY for this. Again, Broccoli was allowed to do and say things she would NEVER have gotten away with, hadn't it been for Pascal.
Veronica, that's right... lol Blofeld isn't even the main villain, it's Bond's jealous stepbrother who is

Let Cavill make all the U.N.C.L.E and Superman films he want, but keep him away from Bond.
I am glad he pulled out of Stratton, I could never see him pulling off the role.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I ignore any and everything that's anti Cavill. Makes no sense to me so I don't waste time addressing it. And I'm certainly not the only one seeing how Cavill is absolutely perfect for the Bond role. Neither was I the first one to do so back when it was time to cast him. Go see how many "likes" for "Cavill should be the next Bond" there are under the first U.N.C.L.E. video and how many people make the same statement, as opposed to the ridiculously small contingent of hardcore Craig fanboys trying to state he is not ok... it's an avalanche in favor of Cavill. As it should be, because anyone with sense and love for Bond, watching that trailer, obviously sees James Bond. The one comment about him being the next Bond has over 1,300 thumbs up. And others in the same tenor have hundreds. So truly... I'm certainly not worried about people NOT wanting him as Bond. Those who do want him as Bond and who clearly see him as Bond by watching U.N.C.L.E. abundantly surpass them.bjmdds wrote:Don't let our Ms. Bouvier, aka Ale, see you write that![]()

In fact, if there's one name that made everyone agree when Craig was cast, that was Cavill's. I have talked with many a Craig fan on other BIG forums who definitely like Cavill. All the rest doesn't matter to me, quite frankly.
And, as long as there's a DRASTIC departure from the Craig era and we get back to the Connery, Moore and Brosnan of it all in terms of tone, I'm just fine. The actor they choose if that's the tone, even if it's not Cavill, will be someone that fits, not some ugly, short and blond dude who looks nothing like James Bond. Instead someone HANDSOME, SUAVE, CLASSY and EDGY as Bond should be. Naturally, Cavill fits those characteristics better than anyone, but there may be some unknown actors who fit the bill too. Regardless, it's crystal clear that in terms of names that are known, he is BY FAR the best choice.
