But you are right, that intro really damaged the image of Craig. I mean his first film grossed over $100 million more than the last film. EON must be hiding in a corner by now in shame.
I guess your quoting me. :?

If so, I added that both EON and Craig repaired the damage that was caused that day with regards his wimpish appearance.
So a man in a suit looks like a wimp now?
That wasn't the point I was making, but CRAIG (Not a general man in a suit) does look kind of wimpish now you ask.

Image
Purefoy or Jackman look far better than this, and this picture was from that exact press conference. Craig's interview was not good as well, and he had little to say, except when uttering a few 'choice' words. When Craig becomes the gentleman Bond should be, he could quickly lose his appeal as Bond, for a gentleman is not what Craig portrays well.

Well I feel strongly enough to disagree, and say that your point about my point regarding your point on my point is even more pointless.

Whats the point I was trying to make again.... :?

I actually felt the introduction of Craig as Bond was ill thought out and like BJ mentioned probably, not viewed by many out of the hardcore fans. I still feel this was the catalyst for Craig's interpretation of Bond (Which ultimately you enjoyed Sweeney).

I really think you two are making more out of this just for the sake of it.

Craig was a bit wimpy when he was first announced as Bond, especially as he is a bit short. That's why he emarked on a bodybuilding course and had a skinhead haircut - to try and look tough. :?

Well, the final scene of CR certainly looked to me as if it was leading into some 24-style torture-as-entertainment. That was one of the things that left a nasty taste in my mouth about CR. I certainly don't want Bond turned into a masturbatory fantasy for neocons (which is how I see 24). Hopefully Bond 22 will prove my initial misgivings wrong.

Just a quick question to the guys that compare Casino Royale to Bourne and 24, and the Miami airport scene to the truck scene in Raiders Of The Lost Ark ( :? ), do you get any enjoyment from films or do you just like to nit pick?

Why not, comparison evokes debate, so it is good. By the way, will this interest The Sweeney in the UK? www.rollingstones.com/news/news.php?uid=623 It was a shame that Eon utilized groups like McCartney and Wings, Duran Duran, Garbage, and Ah-Ha, but never utilized the UK's dynamic home grown talent, to do one of the Bond theme songs. It's not too late, or is it?

Terrorism, torture, violence, throw in a somewhat love affair, that is what CR is all about at it's core.

Your right and this lead to the style of the film IMO.

I personally do NOT like a bulked up James Bond. Picture any of the prior 5 Bonds on steroids.....it would look ridiculous.

The airport sequence was not just Raiders Of The Lost Ark. It was a bit Die Hard 2 . I used to get a lot of enjoyment out of Bond films but Casino Royale was a load of po-faced cobblers for me. And if Eon are going to surround the rest of the Craig era with the same sort of bulls**t they drummed out for CR then I think they are more open to a bit of nitpicking. The pretentious drivel they spewed out in 2006 turned me off almost as much as the casting of Daniel Craig.

I agree totally James. The question remains how long before Bond films return to normalcy, or do they continue on this tangential trek to oblivion?

I prefer the more subtle kills, than the overwhelming violence in CR. Which is why I prefer the Moore Bond. A trained killer should not have to resort to physical combat to resolve every situation.

In the PTS in CR when Craig kills Dryden, I thought this is Bond. Shame the film did not continue in that style.
