Oh I do apologise Barbara for not liking your shitty "modern" Bond reboot with some tedious odd looking midget actor as Bond. Sorry for giving Eon all that money over the years by supporting their Bond franchise and saving Cubby Broccoli's talentless daughter from a life of obscurity.

The fact she "shudders" is great, I shudder when I think of how she perverted what Bond is supposed to be but it also means this place had maybe has a big impact on her. All the 12 year old fanboys who lick her boots she never notices.

Godzilla looks fresh on RT, BO Mojo is predicting a big weekend like Bj wanted. If I see a review I like I'll give it a go. Maybe.

Yeah, I don't think that is a official trailer. Nice cutting together of explosions and s**t to ac/dc guitar riff, but it doesn't give any kind of feel what the films is about. Makes me hopeful this low budget movie has some good action but I really want to see the official trailer.

Welcome to the 21st century, a place EON doesn't seem to find very congenial. They are still stuck in the age of top-down communication from movie studios, with very little interaction with audiences. They don't even have a website, which makes it very difficult to distinguish truth from bulls**t when rumours about the next Bond film are flying around. Yeah, they have rather half-heartedly embraced Facebook and Twitter, but again, the communication there is all one-way. I never see them reply to tweets or post in comments threads in Facebook. The only real interaction with fans comes with the occasional competition, where you can win a prize for answering a trivia question correctly.

You said it Kris. They annointed themselves rulers, and the audiences are just their minions to control. Their arrogance is unbelievable and that is why I hope these crummy films they are churning out with morose plots tank at the box office already.

I wish that too, but sadly their arrogance doesn't seem to result in any negative consequences for them. Quite the opposite, in fact.

Godzilla made nearly $10 million on its opening day in the US and Canada. That's pretty impressive for a Thursday opening, according to Box Office Mojo.

“It’s a bracing tonic for the bored palate of the mainstream moviegoer, and one of the most intriguing big-budget breakthrough films since Steven Spielberg made Jaws,” said Salon critic Andrew O’Hehir. “This is a movie of tremendous visual daring, magnificent special effects work and surprising moral gravity.” ........"Meanwhile, the Spider-Man sequel dropped 61 percent in its second week in theaters to make just $35 million. It seems the appeal of stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone weren’t enough to save a movie in the reboot of a franchise that many feel was unnecessary and too soon after the Spider-Man trilogy directed by Samm Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire."........(so far it's $50 million BEHIND the first reboot in the USA and that is DREADFUL news to the producers, with ticket prices higher now too.)

Suit yourself.
It's no different to what is said of Craig on this very forum. Actually, far worse has been said about Craig, than what I have said about Brosnan. While I don't like Craig as Bond or acting in general, at the same time I have no interest in seeing Brosnan back in a genre that I don't think he was suited to, in the first place.

That dreadful woman! The first cries about the 'reboot' and 'casting' Daniel were from the media who just witnessed a short sea sick man wash ashore to the 007 theme. Altho the fans were upset too. The primary reason the press was not on board with the EON was how miserably Barbara and Co handle the business. I would like to say some day their mismanagement will come back to haunt them however it appears the legacy of 007 is strong enough to keep the series going even if the brand has been reduced to knock off quality.

What surprised me was how competently the message was managed after March 2006, I also had no idea how incestuous entertainment reporting was. I have to admit the degree Sony got the press and meme in sync was truly something to behold, it had to be Sony because there is no way EON had the skills to manipulate the press to this degree.

Sony execs were out defending this movie bringing up 007, something about 007's longevity is the same for Spider-man and sequels in general.

The lizard seems on course for a $100 million opening weekend. I'm old enough to remember when a movie was considered a hit if it made $100 million in its entire run.

Godzilla ruled the box office on Friday with a stunning $38.5 million. Meanwhile, Neighbors and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 fell hard, while Million Dollar Arm failed to find the strike zone.

Playing at over 3,950 theaters, Godzilla's $38.5 million opening day is the biggest of the year ahead of comic book sequels Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($36.9 million) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ($35.2 million). It's also way above World War Z ($25.2 million), which was viewed as the most direct comparable title.

Word-of-mouth on Godzilla is decidedly mixed: it earned a so-so "B+" CinemaScore on Friday, and anecdotal evidence suggests that the movie's detractors are quite vocal. Still, it's a safe bet that Godzilla scores the biggest opening weekend of the year ahead of Captain America ($95 million). (GO baby..........GO :!: :!: )

UPDATED, SATURDAY, 10:57 AM: Godzilla, continues to demolish overseas box office competitors for Warner Bros./Legendary Pics, bowing to No. 1 in five big markets — U.K., Russia, Mexico, Germany and Australia, for another great day. On Friday, it grossed $22.3M as it rolls out into 64 markets this weekend. That raises its total cume as of this morning to $43M. Adding that to its current domestic total this morning, the Lizard has a worldwide box office cume right now before Saturday movie going of $81.5M with two days left to play in its official opening weekend.

Specifically, the UK brought in another $2.7M (cume now is $4.65M). Incidentally, IMAX screens have sold out in London already for the entire weekend so expect a surge through Sunday. Russia took $1.9M more ($3.6M cume); Mexico grabbed another $1.8M (cume rises to $3.2M); Germany grossed $1.4M (cume is now $2.85M) and finally, Down Under captured $1.4M to bring the cume to $2.6M. With incredible international numbers continuing to roll in, Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures has a monstrous worldwide hit on their hands.

bjmdds wrote:Skyfall screenwriter John Logan has discussed the apparent homoerotic subtext inherent in the James Bond series...........The 23rd 007 film includes a scene in which Bond (Daniel Craig) is tied to a chair as former MI6 agent-turned-villain Raoul Silva (Javier Bardem) unbuttons his shirt and makes a sexually-charged remark, to which Bond responds: "What makes you think this is my first time?" "Some people claim it's because I'm, in fact, gay but it's not true at all," Logan told The Hollywood Reporter. "Sam [Mendes] and I were discussing, there were so many scenes where Bond goes mano-a-mano with the villain, whether it's Dr No or Goldfinger or whatever.

"There's been so many ways to do a cat-and-mouse and intimidate Bond, and we thought, what would truly make the audience uncomfortable is sexual intimidation; playing the sort of homoerotic card that is sort of always there subtextually with characters like Scaramanga in Man with the Golden Gun or Dr No.

"So we just decided that we should play the card and enjoy it." (How do you like that Drakester?)
Sorry for being off for a long time, but you know what can I tell, BJ? They're doing hard in pushing the political correctness into the franchise as soon as possible. Not only the Bond franchise, but the entire Hollywood AND the media is preaching this propaganda, which is godawful. And I don't remember Scaramanga making such remarks about Bond, I remember he was a Catholic and even before his death decided to pray before Bond could kill him, only for him to pull a gun and fire at the same time as Bond did in the novel. That's how I remember it unless someone can tell me the otherwise.

Not really, mate, I think the departure of Dalton (which was sad to hear, I know) has made you upset about Brosnan so you're used to view him as an enemy of the spy/Bond state. In my opinion, the footage looked brilliant and I simply can't wait to see the film. After all, it's not the full trailer yet, so I hope the next entrance would change your mind. Just saying. :)
