I finally have a working TV now. I watched Hustle last night, followed by Supernatural, which some friends who share my taste in TV recommended to me. I think I need to see a few more episodes of the latter before I form an opinion, as not being familiar with the characters and plots, I had a hard time following the episode I saw.

I'm enjoying watching the great Colt Seavers in action in The Fall Guy. Lee Majors should have been Bond.

Having watched Department S and the Saint, the champions, which were all favorites of mine as a Kid, I can't help but notice the small sets they had to work with for the street scenes. the same basic set appeares in all series, probably more. I'm amazed I never noticed that as a Kid. some weeks you see Simon Templar walking in to a shop in an aparently different Part of London ,when clearly behind him is his apartment from the last show.
In an episode of Department s set in france ( same set, French wording on signs ) Jason King ( The origional Austin Powers ) gets rescued in a Lefthand drive white Jag, but the Interior shots it's a Righthand drive car.
I'm not Knocking these Old shows, I just amused that as a kid I simply never noticed the low Budget these shows had to work with.
And I'm enjoying The Fallyguy all over again, I bought my first Body warmer Because of that show. :)

Watched the first instalment of Adam Curtis's excellent documentary series All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace on BBC iPlayer. I now feel I understand why the world is in the mess it's in a lot better than I did before.

I enjoy his docs but never quite know what is going on in them. :D :D Was he attacking the looniest of the "free-marketeers"?

I'm not sure he was really "attacking" anyone. His docs are a kind of stream of consciousness, weaving together all sorts of disparate elements (in this case Ayn Rand, the Clenis, the overthrow of General Suharto and a giant game of Pong) into one sort-of-coherent narrative. I haven't seen part 2 yet, but apparently he goes after two sacred cows, the idea of the ecosystem (a computer-generated fantasy, according to Curtis) and the notion that the Internet empowers ordinary people. i'm not sure whether Curtis is a genius or a madman, but he certainly makes you think.

Just watched the last ever episode of Spooks (MI5 for US readers). Wow, that went out on a high. I've said it before and I'll say it again, at its best, Spooks is what a Bond film should be like.

Always thought of Spooks as being a poor man's 24 - perhaps my pre-conception is misguided?

I don't think so, it's much more of an ensemble piece, whereas 24 is very much the Jack Bauer Show.
