I don't think Broccoli ever liked Brosnan.

If those Sean Bean stories were true she probably felt like she'd been saddled with a Bond she didn't choose.

Why is Brosnan so maligned, he was far superior to Craig and added a weary charm to the part, he was James Bond. i dont understand how he went from 2nd best to connery to a periah?

I dont think Brosnan is maligned...........its just that he is somewhat judged by the quality of the Bond films he was in.
I saw Goldeneye last night on TV and realised what a big step down his
last two Bonds were from this.
I do think though that Craig is a better actor!!

Exactly like Arthur Brain said. Brosnan seemed like he could be the next big Bond since Connery in 1995 but none of his later films or his performances were memorable enough to grant him that reputation.

Ending with DAD didn't help matters either, so as far as the legendary Bond status is concerned in the pop culture conciousness, Brosnan is not as popular as the big two, Connery and Moore.

As for Craig, only time will tell. He did put a lot of butts on seats more than any of Brosnan's films (including GoldenEye) but will it stay that way? We'll find out I suppose on Bond 22.

I agree that his films dipped in quality after Goldeneye, but I actually thought his performances got better. Without question PB is the best part of DAD and it was a shame that film was such a turkey as Brosnan was on top form.

I agree that Brosnan did give glimpses of a great Bond throughout his tenure Skywalker. If he were given better scripts and directors he may well have been around for a fifth.
But DAD was a terrible film alround. I found Brosnan a little too confident and smug at times, but as a Bond performance from his era goes it was okay.
But too compare each of the different actors who've played the part is a dangerous one. Why someone who is opposed to Daniel Craig as Bond may even start a website to discuss that view.
What is the world coming too?
A Bond fan opposing the man who is Bond.

I guess if you feel that the current actor to play Bond is not right for the role then you should be able to voice your opinion especially if it is something you are passionate about.

I do feel Brosnan receives unfair criticism for his portrayal as Bond. After all he did re-invigerate the franchise and was a consistent performer at the BO.

It's the sign of the times that we are living in now. No doubt, if the internet was alive and well back in 69, I could easily see a `GeorgeLazenbyIsNotBond.com' happening....

Wishful thinking I'm afraid. George Lazenby looked like James Bond.

For many a fan the opinion is that Daniel Craig looks, acts and is James Bond.
Other actors would've received the same treatment if the internet were available during there stint as Bond.

They had the internet when Brosnan was Bond. I don't recall a BrosnannotBond.com.

As The Sweeney mentioned the internet wasn't commonplace in 1995.
And if I was on the net during Brosnans time, I would only join a site like BrosnanNotBond after 2002.
Luckily there's Mi6 forums.

Yeah, i'm sure everyone would have been up in arms about 6'1, handsome Pierce Brosnan being the new Bond. He'd never been linked to the role before and I'm sure many fans would have considered him a bizarre choice.

Well as it was over twelve years ago that Brosnan was cast as Bond, before the internet and home computers were common then it's impossible to tell.
Similar to the many posters on here that feel Craig is wrong for Bond. Despite the global box office, glowing reviews and general accpetance from the masses.

MI6 must be a thrilling place to hang out if the post counts of our tiny group of Craig groupies are anything to go by. Thanks for the traffic and your help in making this the most entertaining Bond forum on the internet.
